Several years {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(late), he moved to Los Angeles, California. It was "The Tonight Show"{#blank#}3{#/blank#} made Johnny Carson famous for thirty years. He became{#blank#}4{#/blank#} most popular star of American television. He {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (call) "the king of late night". Critics  (评论家) said Americans from all parts of the country liked him and {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (feel) they knew him. He did not take his fame{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (serious). Dear headmaster,

    On hearing the news that a Reading Festival is to be held on campus on the World Book and Copyright Day and the possible project is open to be recommended, I {#blank#}1{#/blank#} hardly wait to write to you, sharing my humble opinions.

    As far as I'm concerned, the theme of the festival can be “sharing”, primarily {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (consist) of three parts. Firstly, the festival can start with a 30-minute discussion where groups of students can exchange and share what they {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (expose) to recently, expressing themselves freely. Following this section is the speech. Teacher and student representatives previously selected by us are to share and recommend the book they think really deserving to be read. It's needless to say that the last sharing section which is the most meaningful is donation, during {#blank#}4{#/blank#} time everyone present, teachers or students, is expected to donate one or more books to the library. As for when {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (hold) the activity, the afternoon may be an ideal choice so that it won't interrupt our classes.

    My advice is justified by the following reasons. First and foremost, it is in the group discussion and exchange that we students can have a thorough idea {#blank#}6{#/blank#} our peers are reading for the moment, serving as a driving force for our own reading journey. So it is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the books recommended. Named by those “idols” in our mind, they will definitely win our heart. As for the donation, the benefits are exactly self-evident. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} can we share beyond our class or even beyond our school, developing a good campus tradition, but {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (importantly), these books which are sure to be dusted on our shelves can now be of more value.

    However, Chinese tea culture goes far beyond tea {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (it). Take green tea for instance, the ideal temperature of the water should be around ℃. If the water is too hot, nutrients (营养) in the tea will {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (destroy)．On the other hand, if the water is not hot enough, the tea {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (leaf) won't open and you will miss the pleasantly fresh flavor. So Chinese people are used {#blank#}6{#/blank#} drinking hot tea. When you visit a Chinese friend, your friend will {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (constant) add hot water to your empty cup of tea. It is polite {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (offer) the tea cup to guests with both hands. Of course, the guests should pay respect as well, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (take)the cup with both hands.

    Talking about adding water to the tea cup, there is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} saying: Wine full, full cup. Tea half, half cup. For wine, the full cup symbolizes whole heartiness. For tea, the half cup means modesty.

    On October 23^rd, 2018，President Xi Jinping announced the opening of the Hong Kong– Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) at an opening ceremony in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.

    The HZMB,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (locate) at the waters of the Lingdingyang of Pearl River Estuary, is a huge sea crossing, linking Hong Kong and Macao to the Chinese mainland city of Zhuhai. As the world's{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(long) sea-based project, the 55-kilometre bridge is the result of five years of research and another nine years of building. It has been described as one of the “seven{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(wonder) of the modern world” by the Guardian.

    The project{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(make) up of a 22.9-kilometer-long main bridge, a 6.7-kilometer-long tunnel and an artificial island off the bridge. It is designed with {#blank#}5{#/blank#}service life of 120 years. It can withstand a strong wind equal{#blank#}6{#/blank#} a maximum Beaufort scale 16. The bridge's engineers had to consider many environmental factors to protect the{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(surround) environment while building the bridge. Chinese white dolphins, an endangered species that lives in the area,{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (be) a particular concern.

    The HZMB will make{#blank#}9{#/blank#}much more convenient to travel between the three areas it connects. It will bring people in Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong within a “one-hour living circle”,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}is expected to attract more visitors to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It will be a transport link as well as a social, economic, cultural, and tourism connection among the three areas.
