Time is something from which we can' t escape.  Even if we ignore it, it's still going by, ticking away, second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the main issue in using your time well is "Who's in charge?" We can allow time to slip by {#blank#}2{#/blank#} let it be our enemy. Or we can take control of it and make it {#blank#}3{#/blank#} ally(同盟) .

It was great fun especially as it slowly became much {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(warm). At the foot of the mountains, colorful butterflies flew around us and we saw many sheep {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(eat) green grass. Then we had to  change our caps, gloves and trousers {#blank#}10{#/blank#} T-shirts and shorts.

In real life, it may take longer to see such changes happen. But if we give people {#blank#}10{#/blank#}chance, their hearts and minds may change in the end.

    What is standard English? Is it spoken in Britain, the US, Canada, Australia, India and New Zealand? Believe it or not, there is no such thing as standard English. Many people believe the English spoken on TV {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the radio is standard English. This is because in the early days of radio, those who {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(report) the news were expected to speak excellent English. However, on TV and the radio you will hear differences in the way people speak.

    When people use words and {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(expression) different from the "standard language", it is {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(call) a dialect.     These days, modern buildings are everywhere. But if you want to see{#blank#}1{#/blank#}life was back in the old days, China still has many beautiful water{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(town) to visit. CNN has chosen four of the country's most beautiful ones.

    The village of Zhouzhuang in Jiangsu calls{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(it) "the oldest water town in China". The village, which{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(build) in 1086, is crossed with canals. Taking a boat ride through town, the red lanterns might make you think of China's romantic past.

    Hongcun,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (fill) with lakes and beautiful Anhui-style buildings, is 900 years old. It was built to look like a big ox. Huangshan Mountain is the head; the town is the body and the bridges are legs.

    Fenghuang in Human doesn't look like a bird,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}its name means "phoenix" (凤凰) in Chinese. The town is as beautiful as the{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(magic) bird. The stilted (吊脚的) buildings on each side of the Tuojiang River make the area look like a scene from{#blank#}8{#/blank#}postcard.

    While most water towns are in the south, Shangdong's Tai'erzhuang stands out in the north. The town{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(be) on the bank of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. In the town, there are ancient bridges, a canal and temples,{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (make) you think of its past glory.

Everywhere I look outside my home I see people busy on their high-tech devices, while driving, walking, shopping, even sitting in toilets. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}connected electronically, they are away from physical reality.

People {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(influence) to become technology addicted. One survey reported that "addicted" was the word most commonly used by people {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(describe) their relationship to iPad and similar devices. One study found that people had a harder time {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(resist) the temptation of social media than they did for sleep, cigarettes and alcohol.

The main goal of technology companies is to get people to spend more money and time on their products, not to actually improve our quality of life. They have successfully created a cultural disease. I see people {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(trap)in a pathological (病态的) relationship with time-consuming technology,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}they serve technology more than technology serves them. I call this technology servitude(奴役). I am referring to a loss of personal freedom and independence {#blank#}7{#/blank#} uncontrolled consumption of many kinds of devices that eat up time and money.

What is a healthy use of technology devices? That is the vital question. Who is really in charge of my life? That is what we need to ask {#blank#}8{#/blank#} if we are to have any chance of breaking up false beliefs about the use of technology. When we can live happily without using so much technology for a day or a week, then we can regain control and personal freedom, become the master of technology and discover what there is to enjoy in life free of technology. Mae West is famous for the wisdom that "too much of a good thing is wonderful." {#blank#}9{#/blank#} it's time to discover today's overused technology.
