A teacher let her class play a game. She
told each child to bring a bag containing a few potatoes. Each potato was given

potatoes that a child put into his or her bag depended on how many people he or

Some children had two potatoes; some had

the children to carry the bag everywhere they went for a week.

also had to carry their bag.

complained about the trouble they had to stand: they had to carry the smelly
potatoes everywhere they went.
Then the teacher said, "This is the
situation (情况) when you carry your hate for somebody inside your
heart. The smell of hate will pollute your heart and you will carry it wherever
you go. If you cannot stand the smell of the rotten potatoes for just one week,
can you imagine (想象) what it is like
to have the smell of hate in your heart for your lifetime?"
