The Great Wall of China is one of the greatest wonders of the world. With a history of more than 2,000 years, some parts of the Great Wall have {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. It is, however, still a very popular place of interest.

It is the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} wall ever built. It's from Shanhaiguan on the east coast to Gansu Province in the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} of China. It is about 8 meters high. The top is 8 meters {#blank#}4{#/blank#} and it gets even wider towards the bottom where it is 15 meters. It is made {#blank#}5{#/blank#} stone and brick. The top is hard enough for men on horseback to ride on. The wall was built by hand and it took {#blank#}6{#/blank#} of years to finish.

No one knows {#blank#}7{#/blank#} when the building of the Great Wall was started. It is believed that the wall was built to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} parts of the country during the Zhou Dynasty. Emperor Qin Shihuang joined the separate walls built by the Qin, Yan and Zhao Kingdoms. The wall was not only for protection in the north, it was also a {#blank#}9{#/blank#}of China's ancient civilization (文明).

Today, many of the visitors go to see the wall. {#blank#}10{#/blank#}they stand on top of a tower and look down on this wall, they can't help (禁不住) saying “Wow, that's fantastic!”

An old man lived alone in his old house. He hardly ever went out．He wouldn't {#blank#}1{#/blank#}with others．One day， a little boy setting{#blank#}2{#/blank#}knocked (敲)at the old man's door .The door slowly opened. "Uh，sir， would you like to buy a magazine?"The old man didn't say anything．He{#blank#}3{#/blank#}stared(注视)at the boy．The boy looked inside and saw lots of dog sculpture(雕塑品)on the table．"Do you collect dogs?" the boy asked．"Yes，they are all my family．"Hearing this，the boy {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. and felt sorry for him．"I have a magazine here about dogs．It's perfect for you．"The old man was ready to close(关) the door and said，"No，I don't{#blank#}5{#/blank#}any magazines．"

The boy suddenly had an idea．He had a dog sculpture， which did not mean much to{#blank#}6{#/blank#}．After a while，the boy returned{#blank#}7{#/blank#}a box．The old man shouted this time．"I told you no magazines!""I bring you a girl．"The boy {#blank#}8{#/blank#}the box and handed him the sculpture．The old man got{#blank#}9{#/blank#}because no one had given him a gift before．From that day on，the old man started going out of his house often．He and the boy because good{#blank#}10{#/blank#}．The boy even brought his pet dog to visit me old man every week．

    This summer, my family and my aunt's family went to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Parks in Canada. We spent most of the time hiking(徒步).

    One day, we hiked to a popular hiking way in Canada. Everything was beautiful. My cousin and I saw lots of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} animals like squirrels(松鼠) and chipmunks(花栗鼠). Surprisingly we saw a chipmunk with dirty hands. His hands were {#blank#}3{#/blank#} of berry juice! My cousin and I named it Jairo. We 7{#blank#}4{#/blank#} that Jairo was a very clever chipmunk. He {#blank#}5{#/blank#} us the whole time. My cousin said, “Do you want to shake {#blank#}6{#/blank#}with him?” So I held out my hand. I could {#blank#}7{#/blank#}believe it when he touched my hand! It was the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}time in my life I had touched a wild animal. I did it! What an {#blank#}9{#/blank#} moment!

    At that moment, I believed that animals could be friends. People and animals should live together {#blank#}10{#/blank#}.
