There are many great heroes in the world. For example, Gandhi, an Indian {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(nation) hero, was respected as the father of the Indian nation. He has been beloved by the Indians.

    He was born in India in 1869. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(Follow) the local custom, he got married at the age of 13. In 1888 he sailed to England, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} he studied law for three years and became a lawyer. On his return to India, he was sent to South Africa to work on a law case.

    In South Africa,{#blank#}4{#/blank#}surprised him most was that the problem of racial discrimination (种族歧视) was serious. There he formed an {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(organize) and started a magazine to fight for equal rights.

    Gandhi returned to India in 1915, when India was controlled by the British. Under his {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(guide), the Indians {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(devote) to fighting for an end to the British rule and independence for their country. In the political movement, many Indians,{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (include) Gandhi, were put in prison. However, they struggled bravely without hesitation.     In London, there are many so-called pop-up shops(品牌游击店). Why they get such a name is that they are just temporary {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(arrange).

    Pop-up shops first appeared in the UK in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} early 2000s. They wereoriginally a way for small companies to rent small space in great locations. In 2008，many businesses had to shut down. Shops and some offices {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(leave) empty when people stopped {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(run) them.     Pop-up shops can take many different forms. They might be temporary shops in the high street or a shopping centre. They might be simple market stalls. According to a 2014 report made by the Centre of Economic and Business Research, the pop-up industry was worth £2.1 billion and it is expected to grow {#blank#}9{#/blank#} 8.4% this year.

    Almost anything {#blank#}10{#/blank#} can be on a high street can also be a pop-up. In an age of fast changing habits, the pop-up idea might be here to stay.

    As victor Hugo once said, “{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(laugh) is the sun that drives winter from the human face”, and up to now nobody has been able to do this {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(well) than Charlie Chaplin. He {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(bright) the lives of Americans and British through two world wars and the hard years in between. He made people laugh at a time when they felt depressed, so they could feel more content {#blank#}4{#/blank#} their lives. Charlie Chaplin wrote, directed and produced the films he starred in. In 1972 he was given a special Oscar for his outstanding work in films. He is loved and remembered as a great actor {#blank#}10{#/blank#} could inspire people with great confidence.

    Chinese has overtaken French, Spanish and German to become one of the most popular foreign languages for jobseekers in the UK. Research shows graduates in Chinese earn {#blank#}1{#/blank#}average yearly salary of £31,000 or{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(much).

    "I had a lot of friends on other courses {#blank#}3{#/blank#}didn't do much in first or second year. But for Chinese majors, you have to spend hours and hours{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(write) characters," says Hannah Jackson, who graduated in Chinese Studies from Sheffield University in 2012.

    Hannah describes her course as "majorly intense". "Most of my friends admitted to crying in the first week owing {#blank#}5{#/blank#}the course intensity (强度). I was almost told at one point that I might want to reconsider and drop out."

    "The degree is{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(absolute) worth it. The efforts{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(pay) off so far. I like that I could live, work and operate with relative ease in China. Looking around at people who have studied French or Spanish at university, I find there's no such chance{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(use) what they've learned in the workplace," Hannah says.

    Hannah went to look for a job in Shanghai, where she found more employment{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(opportunity). After working as a project manager for Intralink Group for four years, she set up{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(she) own company earning £5,000 a day. She has now returned to the UK and works in business development for the Body Shop.

    All the four artists gave white porcelain a model style,each in {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (they) own way. And this is what theexhibition's theme comes from. It's a dialogue between the past and thepresent.
