    When I was a little girl, I was very shy and unconfident. I used to be afraid of {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(speak) in public, so I always kept quiet in class. I never answered the teachers' questions. I just listened to them {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(quiet).

But one day, things changed. I {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(listen) to my Chinese teacher Ms. Song carefully {#blank#}4{#/blank#}usual. Suddenly, she asked the whole class {#blank#}5{#/blank#}question which was quite easy. Ms. Song looked around, and then her eyes were on me. She asked me {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(answer) it. Feeling nervous, I stood up slowly and was unable to say a word. "Come on! Believe {#blank#}7{#/blank#}yourself. You are the best!" said Ms. Song. I looked at Ms. Song in the eyes, and I could feel her encouragements. I {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(take) courage from it and answered the question {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(correct). Ms. Song gave me a big smile and so did my classmates. From then {#blank#}10{#/blank#}, I started to  answer the teachers' questions in class.

    Since then, whenever I meet challenges, I always say to myself, "You're the best."

    After six days of spring rain, a {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(run) river appeared near Nancy Brown's farm. When she tried to get her cows to a {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (high) ground, she fell down and hit her head on a fallen tree. Then she fainted(昏倒) in the river for a few minutes. When she woke{#blank#}3{#/blank#}, Lizzie, one of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (she) oldest and favourite cows, was licking(舔) her head. The water was rising. Nancy got up and began walking {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (slow) with Lizzie. The water was now getting higher and higher. It was hard {#blank#}6{#/blank#} Nancy to move her feet. Finally, all she could do was throw her arms around {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (Lizzie) neck. About 20 minutes later, Lizzie successfully pulled Nancy out of the running water and onto a small island in the middle of the river.

    Even though it was about noon, the rain was so heavy that it took people two {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (hour) to find Nancy. Soon she was taken to a hospital.

    When the flood left two days later, Nancy went back to the island at once. She {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (find) that Lizzie was gone. She was one of the nineteen cows that Nancy had lost. "She saved my life but lost hers," said Nancy{#blank#}10{#/blank#} tears.
