My name is Jim White. I live in America. I had a very {#blank#}1{#/blank#} experience on Sunday. I saw a UFO in the daytime. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} this spring, I went outside with my friend Bill {#blank#}3{#/blank#} lived close to me. We were walking to a hill {#blank#}4{#/blank#} I saw a large bright light dancing in the sky. I called Jim and asked him to look up. He kept {#blank#}5{#/blank#} , “What is that?” “A UFO!” I shouted excitedly. I{#blank#}6{#/blank#} it was round and red in the center.
After we looked at {#blank#}7{#/blank#} for a moment, we found it seemed that it had wings, but it was still round. Bill would not believe me when I told him it {#blank#}8{#/blank#} be a UFO. We shouted{#blank#}9{#/blank#} it and we wished that it would land. We wanted to know {#blank#}10{#/blank#} there was an alien in it. But soon it disappeared. I guessed we scared it off.
Do you believe me? It's a true story.

    Years ago, I lived in a house in a large city.  The house next door was only a few meters away from {#blank#}1{#/blank#} .  Through the window, I could often see a woman who I {#blank#}2{#/blank#} never met doing some reading in the house every afternoon.
    Several months went by, I began to notice that her window was dirty.  Everything was not very clear {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  the dirty window.  I wondered {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  the woman didn't wash her window, it really looked terrible.
    One bright morning, I decided to clean my house, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  washing the window inside.   Late in the afternoon when 1 finished all the cleaning, I sat down by the window with a cup of coffee for a rest.  How surprising! I found that the{#blank#}6{#/blank#}  window was actually so clean that she could be {#blank#}7{#/blank#} clearly sitting by the window. That was quite an important lesson for me.  How often had I looked at  {#blank#}8{#/blank#}    through my own shortcomings  (缺点) !
    Since then, I have been used to {#blank#}9{#/blank#}  myself whether I am looking through my own dirty window.  Before I want to judge someone, I always think more than before and try to clean the dirty window so that I may see the world around me more {#blank#}10{#/blank#}  .

A：Jill, you {#blank#}1{#/blank#} ask someone to paint the house this year.

B：Yes．It's beginning to look dirty. I don't have enough money, though. Do you think I {#blank#}2{#/blank#}try to borrow some?

A：No, you shouldn't. You {#blank#}3{#/blank#}have a problem paying it back.

B：I should do something about the roof(屋顶), too.It leaks(漏)when it rains hard.

A：Really? {#blank#}4{#/blank#}repair it now? Maybe you {#blank#}5{#/blank#}call someone today and ask them to look at it.

B：Yes. You're right.

    Without the television set, the radio and more importantly, the computer, we will{#blank#}1{#/blank#} have any fun in our homes today. However, the people in the past had their own clever{#blank#}2{#/blank#}of enjoying themselves. For example, they made music without the use of computers but with tools made from wood and animal skin.

    Travel was simple at that time. Most of the people were excellent boat makers and they could make boats in a variety of shapes and sizes for travelling along the rivers and in the {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. With increased skills and experience, the people learnt how to make the boats stronger against rains and storms.

    Some things are basic for us{#blank#}4{#/blank#}, but the people in the past could live the lives to the full even without them. We should not look down on the wisdom of people long ago.
