Life today is much{#blank#}1{#/blank#} . However, there are new problems. One of the biggest ones is pollution. Water {#blank#}2{#/blank#} has made rivers dirty. It kills fish and {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  our drinking water. Noise pollution makes us speak {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  and become angry more {#blank#}5{#/blank#} . Air pollution is the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} serious kind of pollution. It's bad for all {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  things in the world.

        There was a man named Ben. He made caps to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} money. One day he went to {#blank#}2{#/blank#} his caps. It was very hot. When he went {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a forest, he wanted to have a {#blank#}4{#/blank#} . He came up to a large tree, put his caps on the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} , took one of them and put it on his head. Then he lay down and soon fell asleep.
    “Where are my caps?” Ben {#blank#}6{#/blank#} when he woke up. He looked up and saw many monkeys in the trees. Each monkey had a cap on its {#blank#}7{#/blank#} .
    “Give back my caps!” Ben {#blank#}8{#/blank#} at the monkeys. But the monkeys couldn't understand him. Ben got very angry. He took off his own cap, threw it on the ground and cried, “If you want all my caps, you may take this one, too!”
    What {#blank#}9{#/blank#} then? The monkeys did the same. Each monkey took off its cap and {#blank#}10{#/blank#} it on the ground. Ben was very glad. He quickly collected all his caps and went on his way.

    Until the early twentieth century, it was always unsuccessful to transfuse blood（输血） from one person to another person. Then in 1901, Karl Landsteiner, an Austrian scientist, discovered that there are four types of blood. These four blood types were named A, B, AB, and O. People have one of these four types. Blood type O is the most{#blank#}1{#/blank#} around the world because the number of the people with type O is the largest, while type AB is the least. If people with type A blood are given type B blood,  or people with type B blood are given type A blood,  they will{#blank#}2{#/blank#} die. Karl Landsteiner's research made it possible to be sure that people who need blood get the correct type.

    The study of blood didn't stop. In 1972, a Japanese doctor, Furukawa Takeji, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} another research about blood. And he came up with the idea that it was possible to tell one person's {#blank#}4{#/blank#}only by his blood type, which can help you know about the person quickly.

There are many wetlands (湿地) in China ‒ and some of them have become the world's important wetlands. The Chinese Yellow Sea Wetlands are {#blank#}1{#/blank#} them. They are in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. They are {#blank#}2{#/blank#} to many different kinds of animals. The world's {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Milu deer nature reserve (自然保护区) is on these wetlands. More than 700 Milu deer live there. There are not many red-crowned cranes (丹顶鹤) {#blank#}4{#/blank#} in the world, but every winter, you can see some in the red-crowned crane nature reserve in the Yellow Sea Wetlands.

    The {#blank#}5{#/blank#} in the wetlands is neither too high nor too low. There is  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} rain and sunshine, too. They are a good place for wildlife. But offering food and shelter for special kinds of animals is not the  {#blank#}7{#/blank#} reason we need to protect wetlands. Wetlands are important {#blank#}8{#/blank#} they also prevent floods. But some people want to {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the wetlands to make more space for farms and less space for wildlife.

    More people are beginning to realize the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} of wetlands and wildlife. Every year, on Feb 2, many activities are held to teach people about the wetlands.
