Summer vacation means long days, sleeping in or enjoying the summer sun. It is quite true for students to enjoy a rest after a long and difficult year. But more and more parents fear their kids forgetting a lot of knowledge, so they send their children to summer schools. Because summer schools have many advantages, they can help children go over the knowledge that they have learnt during the school year.

    In summer schools, students probably study in a more relaxing situation and can come up with interesting topics for discussion with their teachers. Usually, the number of. students attending summer schools is smaller, so this gives them a good chance to connect with other students and teachers better. If a student has failed a course, summer schools may help him or her. Moreover, they are building their creativity(创造力) and imagination(想象力) as well as learning social skills.

    On the other hand, summer schools bring children problems at the same time. It takes children the whole summer vacation to learn without playing. That is too long. As a result, it may make them less interested in school during the coming year.

    For many students, taking summer classes can be a tiring experience. Teachers teach the subject too quickly, where only harms the whole education of students. Summer schools are usually expensive. They usually offer only a few subjects. So many students have to take classes that they don't like.

    A summer school can be a good chance for students who need it, but it can be difficult for students who need a rest. So you can decide whether a summer school is suitable for your children.

A. Eric has changed a lot in the past few years. He understands that people should care about others, especially those in need. He gives away money and things to poor people and is praised for his kindness.

B. Frank has been in China for five years and known a lot about Chinese culture. But it seems too hard for him to speak Chinese well and he's considering giving it up.

C. Dale has made great progress in spoken Chinese with the help of Mr. Zhang. And he's very comfortable talking with others in front of crowds. Now he has great interest in it and often takes part in speech competitions.

D. Jim has stopped playing computer games. His parents helped him a lot to change. Now he exercises with his father in the morning every day. He always says, “Doing sports makes me active and healthy."

E. With the help of his older brother. Tom is able to play some computer games now. And he often plays them with his brother on weekend to relax.

F. With the help of Mr. Smith, Mike has become quite interested in painting. What's more, he won first prize in all art competition yesterday. Many people say that he has changed a lot and will be a great painter.

G. John wants to change and he is trying to be active in class now. He's still a little afraid when answering the teachers' questions, but he will put up his hands at once as long as he knows the answers to the questions. What's more, he will take part in a speech competition this term.

    My challenge for you is this: to read a book for 15 minutes a day. Let me explain where the challenge came from.

    I have many things in common with my dad, like music taste and sense of humor, but sadly reading isn't one of them. I can happily spend a whole day reading a book. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} He reads e-mails, websites and papers for work, but not books. He is a busy person, with a short attention span, so I think that sitting down to read for just 15 minutes a day is a good way to introduce him to reading. Giving yourself a goal or challenge is a good way to change a habit or achieve something, so why not try to develop a new habit of reading?

     {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Everyone is different and has their own interests, but I think there are lots of benefits of reading, which screen-based activities (games, films,

TV) don't have.

     {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Looking at screens can cause tire eyes, and you should avoid looking at screens for a long time.

    Another thing I love about reading is being transported to another world. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} So you go to bed. Because you think more about the world of the book, rather than the real world and the problems you have during the day, so you can truly relax.

    I also love people. I enjoy hearing what people are doing and finding out what people think.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} It also teaches me to see things from other people's point of view, and understand other people's decisions or opinions.

    So give it a try! Include 15 minutes of reading in your daily schedule and see the difference you can make.

I started learning English at the 1 of 22. It is kind of 2 to start studying a language. However, age is never a problem if you really want to 3 something.

I was preparing myself to study engineering in the USA. To enter my dream university, I had to 4 a TOEFL score of 90 or higher. After careful thought, I signed up for a six-month program to study English.

It was difficult to get 90 in six months for someone who started learning English from the very beginning, but I decided to have a try. In order to join the 5 ,I moved to a different city and rented (租用) a house with a friend. We were in the same program. We did not have any distractions(使人分心的事物) in 6 house, such as televisions, computers or smartphones.

We had classes every day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a lunch break only. After the classes were over, we had something for dinner and started 7 what we had learned and doing homework. We would study 8 we became sleepy and usually, we would finish it by midnight.

My friend and I encouraged each other and we did our best.9 , we 10 got perfect TOEFL scores and went to the USA at last.

I'm a middle school student. My school is very beautiful. There are lots of tall trees and beautiful {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(flower) in it. Walking in my school is very relaxing. It's also a good place to study. 

This is our school library {#blank#}2{#/blank#} all kinds of books. Look! The librarian(图书管理员)Tina is helping a new student {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(look) for a book. She is {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(real) kind and friendly. We all love her {#blank#}5{#/blank#}we enjoy reading here. Now we can spend {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(many) time reading books in the library than before because of the double reduction policy (双减政策). 

There is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} big and beautiful playground in front of the classroom. We usually have {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(we) PE class there. Last week, we had a Sports Day on the playground. All the teachers and students were really {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(excite). We had a great time and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(take) quite a lot of photos.
