山东省淄博市高青县2015-2016学年八年级上学期英语期末考试试卷

语法填空。

The story was a true one and still moved me deeply. Twenty years ago, I got to know a poor lady(name) Rose. She had no kids and lived alone. When I went to visit her, I always took Rose some coffee and food. One day she said she would like( invite) me to have lunch.

We walked from my work place a little restaurant. On the way, I  (begin) to worry: I knew that she had no money, but if I offered to pay for the lunch, I was afraid I would hurt her.

There  (be) many people in the restaurant, and all of them were happy. Rose told me(sit) and drink coffee by the window. Then she went to work in the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, she came out and sat with me. She just paidthe meal and we started to enjoy the delicious food together. She told me that the restaurant let people(work) for a meal if they had no money, or would give them a free meal if they were not able to work .my surprise, she also said that the workers who were working there were all volunteers.

I still remember the beautiful afternoon I shared with Rose. I think life cannot be easy for us, but we can still do something for our friends and neighbors. The world will be(nice) than before if everybody would like to share happiness with others. It will never be dark if there is a light in everyone's heart.

At that time, I was getting to have a larger size than my father, so when I put on the vest, I felt as if I wasn't able to breathe!I realized it {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(be) a small mistake made by my mother, but somehow the breathless feeling was so strong {#blank#}5{#/blank#}it made me very angry. My mother said sorry with a smile, but I shouted at her without thinking much. I took it off rather wildly, and I made a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} in it. I put on my own vest and rushed out of the house before my mother could stop me. My mother shared her bad feeling with my father, "See what your son has {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(do). "Instead of punishing me, my father {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(quiet) asked my mother to sew(缝上) up the hole in the vest.

Later, when my mother told me about my father's response(反应), I felt sorry about my bad behavior.{#blank#}9{#/blank#}a kind man my father is! His kindness taught me a lesson I would never forget. 语法填空

A city without cars would be strange right? But Venice is such a city.

Venice is in the northeast of Italy. It wasn't built on land {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Beijing or Shanghai, but on more than 110 {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (island). Seawater is everywhere around the city.

Even so, travel isn't that difficult. The waterways have always been the best way to get around. There are 117 waterways and more than 400 bridges{#blank#}3{#/blank#} can guide you where you want to go. People in Venice move from place to place by {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (boat).

Water makes the city special, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}it is also a big problem. Sometimes tourists will have such strange {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (experience): One moment they walk across the Rialto Bridge, and there is nothing special. But when they come back to the bridge an hour later, it's underwater and everyone is wearing rain shoes.

Once people used too much underground water. This made the city get {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (low) little by little. Now the city has gone down by 23 centimetres. Another problem is the rising seawater. The temperature {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (rise) over the years. This has made ice of the Arctic Ocean(北冰洋) melt. Every year, high waters hit the city {#blank#}9{#/blank#} autumn and winter. When a lot of water comes, more than half of the city is underwater.

Scientists are trying different ways {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (stop) the city from getting even lower. The Italian government has asked some of Italy s biggest companies to build the MOST project, which was planned to be built under the seawater to stop the rising water. Anyway, this project is helping solve the problem.
