I have spent almost a third of my life in China, living and working in this beautiful country. In a sense, China has been and is still my second home But in those past years I ha d never been to Quzhou.

Some days ago, for the first time in my Chinese life, I stepped into the beautiful city of Quzhou. My impressions of Quzhou city were as I always thought: green countryside, rainy sky, wet air. That was what I imagined for years the south of China would be. When we finally arrived, I was impressed by the elegant (优雅的) city.

Next day we were taken to visit some places not far away from the city. I was not aware of the direction of our short trip, but when we arrived at Lanke Mountain and got out of the car, I thought that we had been taken to a fairyland (仙境) : the light rain over the green and thick plants, the silvery sky like a heavy blanket and the mystery (神秘) of this mountain made me feel like being part of a picture.

Jiulong Lake was our next step. The mystic atmosphere (气氛) of this place was so strong that I decided to watch the view standing at the top when I stepped into the small boat to sail upstream. Sometimes we were so close to the mountain that we could clearly see the red soil under the plants. I was thinking of the joy to be in a place like Jiulong Lake and how it would be to live among those hills for a while.

    The final leg of the day's journey was a primary school. We were welcomed by the smiles on the faces of many young pioneers. The energy of the hundreds of kids made me feel younger for a while, so educated, so polite and so warm that I had no doubt about the future generations of Quzhou people. The people seem to me the best of Quzhou and they will remain in my memories forever.

    Philip is the bravest boy I know. His friends and family are all very 1 him.

    Ten-year-old Philip was born with an 2  which means that he is always breaking his bones（骨头）. Although he has such a serious illness, Philip 3  playing sports. In January last year he 4  wheelchair racing. He came second in his first 5 , and since then Philip has won every other race!

    In order to look for a new challenge（挑战）， Philip 6  to take part in the London Wheelchair Marathon（马拉松）. 7 , five days before the race Philip got sick. He didn't want to 8  He finally made up his mind to take part. Philip was given medicine by his doctor and guess what? He not only 9  it, but he also finished in first place!

    Philip is very 10  and never gives up. That's why he has been chosen to be the Bravest Child of the Month.

    I am a karate (空手道) player. I still remember my first karate competition. Like other players, I was very excited about my event. I watched every player's techniques (技巧) so that I could carefully avoid their movements.

    Somehow I got into the semi-finals. In the semifinals, I got injured. I still didn't give up and got into the final. After all, getting the gold medal was my dream.

    In the final competition, there were no supporters on my side, as I was a new face. Instead, the crowd was cheering for my opponent. I could hear only my opponent's name.

    I ignored the crowd's cheering. I kept one thing in mind: focus, wait and attack. I had confidence in myself, and I knew that no matter how strong my opponent was, I had to do my best and fight well.

    When the time was up. I was leading with a3 -0 score. One thing I learned from that event is no matter how strong your opponent is don't think you are weak or strong. Just give your best shot, and you will make your way to success.

    Win or lose, you will learn from every step you take.

    As two women walked into a New Jersey hospital, they laughed. It showed the love that had held them together1 forty years as best friends. Although they were laughing, one of these ladies would soon put her life in danger2her best friend.

    Patty Hurley and Eileen Riley met at high school and have been close friends ever since. But when Eileen,3nurse, became ill with kidney (肾) disease, she didn't go running to her friend—Patty came to help her, after4Eileen was sick. "My kidneys are failing," Eileen explained.

    "Can I give you one of mine?"5the immediate reply.

    The offer was so simple6Eileen thought she had heard wrong. But Patty repeated she was willing to help, and their journey to the operating table began.

    Eileen always knew that her friend would help. She said7, "When Patty makes a promise, she keeps8."

    The operation went ahead in May, and both women are now very healthy and9than ever.

    "There are no words to describe10amazing this woman is," Eileen said afterwards. "She gave me my life."

"Today I will give you a special test," said the English teacher with a smile on his face.

All the students set up straight and 1 for the test to begin. The teacher began to give the test papers to all the students. After he handed out the test papers, he asked them to 2.

The students felt very strange to see that there was not a question but a black dot(圆点)in the centre of the paper. The teacher said with a smile, "I want you to 3 what you see there." At the end of the class, the teacher took all the students' papers and read the answers. All of them wrote about the black dot. After reading all the answers, the teacher said 4, "Here everyone only saw the black dot, but no one wrote about the white paper. "All the students listened without saying anything, because they were 5. they couldn't get good marks(分数). Then the teacher said, "Don't worry about 6 marks for this test I just want you to think about our 7. The white paper is like our life and the back dot in the centre of the paper is like the problem(问题)in our life. "

Our life is a 8 from God, with love and hope. But we just see the problems, and never see 9 things in our life. So we should take our 10 off our problems to see each moment life gives us.

Artist Jasmine Cho paints the picture of famous Asian Americans. But she does not use paper to create her art. She uses cookies. Cho said the sweet treats are meaningful because they can help people know more about Asian Americans. The 39-year-old artist believes her art comes from a feeling of not belonging when she was young.

Cho has got fans over the last several years as she always makes cookie faces in detail. Famous actors like Awkwafina and Daniel Dae have praised her cookie designs. The city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where Cho has lived since 2009,even honored (给……荣誉) her with a "Jasmine Cho Day" in 2020.

In 2016, Cho made a video in which she was making cookies for her online bakery (面包店). The cookies were exactly like her friends. So the cookies received attention on social media at once. Soon, others wanted her cookies, too.

A few months later, Cho held her first show. She made cookies of Asian American Pittsburgh natives, like Leah Lizarondo, the founder of 412 Food Rescue. Lizarondo remembers how surprised she was to find that Cho bad made her into a cookie face. "I shared it as widely as I could because I was so proud to be among the people she did cookie portraits (肖像) of," Lizarondo said by email.

In 2021, Cho wrote a children's book Role Models Who Look Lite Me. In the following years, she has given over 20 speeches in different countries. For her, the biggest exciting thing is when young Asian Americans, particularly females, feel encouraged. "They tell me things like, ‘I learned more in your 15-minute talk than I have in my whole class that's about Asian American history,' or something like that," Cho said.
