One day I went for a walk in the forest with my parents. We walked down a small road after lunch. I saw a big blue bird.

    "Look!" I called out.

Mum and Dad didn't hear me and walked on.

The bird was beautiful, I followed it and wanted to catch it.

    Oops! I fell over!

……

The sky (天空) looked dark. "Was I asleep?" I thought. I knew I fell over just now. I looked around and saw a man wearing a big blue jacket.

"Your mum and dad called Search and Rescue for help, because they couldn't find you," said the man.

"What?" I was surprised to hear that.

"You passed out (昏迷)," the man said. "And you looked injured."

Oh, yes, my ankle (脚踝) looked big and I couldn't walk.

"Don't worry. The ambulance (救护车) will arrive soon," said the man.

"How did you find me?" I asked.

"We let Goldie smell (闻) your jacket. Goldie followed your smell and found you," he said. Then I saw a big dog.

The ambulance team found us soon. They took me to the ambulance. Goldie came with us.

We got to the hospital quickly. Mum and Dad were waiting there. I had an X-ray (X光检查) of my ankle. Luckily, it wasn't broken, but I needed to stay in bed for days.

Mum and Dad thanked everyone. And we thanked Goldie too!

阅读下列短文,从每小题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出一个最佳选项。

This was the first real task I received in my new school. It seemed simple: go on the Internet and find information about a man named George Washington. As I searched the name, I found that there were two famous people having the same name who looked completely different! One invented hundreds of uses for peanuts(花生), while the other led some sort of army across America. I stared at the screen, wondering which one my teacher meant. I called my grandfather for a golden piece of advice: let the coin decide. I flipped(掷) a coin and Ah! Tails (背面)! My report would be about the great man who invented peanut butter, George Washington Carver.

Weeks later, I stood in front of the classroom and proudly read my homework. But things started to get strange. I looked around the room, only to find my classmates with big smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes and my stone-faced teacher. I was completely lost. “What could be causing everyone to act this way?”

Oh well, I dropped the paper and sat down at my desk, burning to find out what I had done wrong. As a classmate began his report, it all became clear, “My report is on George Washington, the man who started the American War of Independence.” The whole world became quiet! How could I know that my teacher meant that George Washington?

Of course, my subject result was awful. Sad but fearless, I decided to turn this around. I talked to the headmaster Miss Lancelot, but she said firmly(坚决地): No re-dos; no new score. I felt that it was not fair, and I believed I should have a second chance. So I threw myself heartily into my work for the rest of the school year. Ten months later, I sat in the headmaster's office again, but this time a completely different conversation. I smiled and flashed back to the terrible moment at the beginning of the year when the headmaster told me I was good enough to skip(跳过) the 6th grade and started the 7th grade next term.

Once upon a time, there was a huge crab(螃) living in the mountains

One day, the crab decided to return to the ocean. While he was moving to the sea, the whole earth shook.

An old man felt the land shake. He shouted loudly to his villagers,"We must build a raft(木筏)! Quickly! Quickly!

"Why should we do that?" asked one of them

"Because he is so massive that when he dives into the ocean, it will cause a flood!" The old man replied, "We must build a raft big enough to hold all of us and many animals!"

The villagers accepted his warming and began working together. Some of them cut down trees, while others were busy building the raft. After seeing what villagers did, the animals of the forest sensed that danger was coming so they joined in the work as well. The monkeys and the water buffalo wove(编) ropes, while the horses and the tiny mouse deer helped to pull trees from the forest. Finally, the old man tied one end of the rope to the raft and the other end to a big tree.

"What is that for?"asked a child.

The old man smiled, "This will help us find our way home."

Finally, the raft was ready. Not long after, this big crab completed his journey and jumped into the sea! Suddenly, the huge waves flooded the land. The villagers and animals climbed onto the life raft, which was swept away by the rushing water. People and animals were all in fear!

But the raft suddenly came to a stop because of the rope which was tied to the tree. People and animals hugged together for warmth. They sang to keep their spirits when they floated(漂浮) on the raft

The crab finally settled on the sea bottom. Soon after, the sea level returned to its original position, and the passengers found themselves back on land. Both humans and animals were happy to be alive! They turned to the old man, "Thanks for saving us by getting us to build a raft!"

But he smiled, "Oh, it was not me that saved you. We worked together-the men and women and children, and the animals too. When we work together, there's nothing we can't do."

 阅读下面材料,根据文中信息完成以下任务。

Do the British eat in the same way as the Chinese? What different habits do they have in eating?

People in the UK do not usually have porridge or noodles for breakfast like the Chinese. They eat bread instead. Hot tea, coffee and milk are their usual breakfast drinks.

In the UK, lunch is taken at about 1:00 pm, later than that in China. While Chinese people like a hot, filling lunch, many British people today may just have a sandwich, especially if they work in a busy city like London. There are also differences in the way pupils eat lunch. In the past, British children ate hot lunches at school, as most children in China do now, but the food was different. Today, it is more common for British pupils to bring their own lunches to school. They will usually eat a sandwich and a piece of fruit, and drink fruit juice or other soft drinks. Some children like to buy food from shops outside the school, but often this is not allowed.

The evening meal is the most important meal in both countries. In China people have dinner at about 6:00 pm, and so do many people in the UK. In most families in the UK, there's meat with two or three vegetables and something sweet. But in China, people often have more dishes, and usually with soup.
