Mr Brown saw a sweaterin a shop. It was very cheap, so he bought it. When he got home, he put it on. Itwas all right and he was pleased with it.

In the afternoon, hewent to work in his garden. It soon began to rain and Mr Brown had to run into thehouse. He ran quickly, but he still got wet. Then his sweater started toshrink(收缩). It got smaller and smaller.Mr Brown tried to take it of but he couldn't.

In the end with thehelp of his wife, he got out of the sweater. Mrs Brown laughed, "You see, youbought a cheap thing, But…"

Xu Zhirui was born in a poor family in Dezhou, Shandong. When he was a little child, his father died. Although later his mother had a new 1 , they were still poor. Hard days were a big problem to Xu, but he 2 gave up. He kept working hard and finally went to Peking University.
