I'm Michael from America. Now I am in China and celebrating the Spring Festival with Li Lei's family. It's New Year's Eve (除夕). What are we doing?

At 10:00 am

Li Lei's grandfather is making red lanterns. People always hang them at the gate. In China, red means good luck. His parents are getting ready for lunch.

At 5:00 pm

Li Lei's mother and aunt are making jiaozi—a kind of dumplings. His two cousins are playing games, Li Lei is making some New Year cards. I am writing an email to my parents on the Internet. I tell them about the festival.

At 8:00 pm

We are sitting at a big table and having a family dinner. It's really delicious. We are also watching the Spring Festival Gala (春节联欢晚会).

Once or twice, there was crying and sighing (叹息) from a little leaf, as leaves often do when the wind is blowing. The tree said, "What's the matter, little leaf ?"

"The wind, " said the leaf, "just told me that one day it would pull me off and throw me on the ground. "

" Don't be afraid, " the tree said. "Hold on , and you shall not go off until you are ready. "

So the leaf stopped sighing and went on singing. It grew all summer long until October. When the bright days of autumn came, the leaf saw all the leaves around growing very beautiful. Some were yellow, some were brown, and many were colorful. Then the leaf asked the tree what this meant (意味着).

The tree said, " All these leaves are getting ready to fly away, and they have put on these colors because of their joy (快乐). "

The little leaf started to want to go and grew colorful thinking of it. Then it saw that the branches (树枝) of the tree had no bright colors on them and asked why.

"We must keep on our working clothes because we don't finish our work, " said the tree, "but your clothes are for holidays because your work is now over. "

Just then, the wind came, and the leaf let go (放手) without thinking. The wind took it up and turned it over and over. Then it fell slowly down on the ground, among hundreds of leaves.

One day, Zhou Yu ordered Zhuge Liang to make 100,000 arrows(箭) in ten days." Give me three days," said Zhuge. Zhou thought Zhuge was {#blank#}1{#/blank#}( trouble) himself. He told his soldiers not to provide things {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Zhuge. Zhuge asked Lu Su to lend {#blank#}3{#/blank#}( he) twenty boats full of scarecrows(稻草人) with thirty soldiers in each.

In the early morning of the {#blank#}4{#/blank#}( three) day, Zhuge ordered that the twenty boats should be tied together. He asked Lu for {#blank#}5{#/blank#} boat ride and then headed for Cao Cao's camp. When the boats got much {#blank#}6{#/blank#}( close) to the camp, Zhuge let his soldiers shout out {#blank#}7{#/blank#} they were beating the drums.

Cao Cao heard their sounds and ordered," Shoot arrows at them as quickly as possible." Soon, the scarecrows on both {#blank#}8{#/blank#}( side) of the boats were full of arrows. When the day broke, with {#blank#}9{#/blank#}( excite), Zhuge and his soldiers rowed back to their camp. They collected more than100,000 arrows.

This story teaches us about the importance of teamwork and encourages us {#blank#}10{#/blank#}( use) our heads to face challenges creatively.

I am Ashraf from Cairo, Egypt. Last summer, my cousin Sami came to Cairo for the first time. He is 28 and he lives in London. He is an architect(建筑师) and he was visiting Cairo for his job. 

 On the morning of his last day here, we went to Khan el-Khalili, It is a big market in the centre of Cairo. Hundreds of people come to the market every day. It is quieter in the morning than in the afternoon when lots of tourists visit it. 

 My dad is a taxi driver. He gave us a ride to the market. On the way, we saw many buildings. Sami liked them a lot. He said, "I like the buildings in London, but Cairo's buildings are more interesting. And the people here are friendly, too. But the streets are busier and noisier than those in London!"

 The things in the market are not too expensive. Sami bought a dress for his daughter and a toy violin for his son. We had lunch at a coffee house and Sami admired the food. He said it was both beautiful and tasty. While we were eating, we enjoyed some wonderful Egyptian music. A band was playing the violin and the drums. We also took a lot of photos. 

 Finally, it was time for Sami to go home. "Thank you for showing me around this beautiful city, " Sami said. "One day, I want to show you around my city!"

One morning, a tiger is walking in the forest. He is very  1  because he has nothing to eat. Suddenly, he sees a  2 and catches her. The tiger opens his mouth, full of long sharp 3 , and says to the fox, "Why are you walking in my forest? What are you doing here? I shall have you for my 4 . "

The fox is 5 , but she has a good idea at once. She 6 , "My dear sir, you must not think that you are the king of the animals. Of course, you are very strong. But I am the most powerful from now on. If you don't believe me, you can follow me. I will 7 you how other animals are afraid of me. "

So the tiger and the fox walk together. The fox is in front of the tiger and the tiger8 behind the fox. When the animals see the tiger behind the fox, they all9 away. Then the fox says, "Now you see it. All the animals are afraid of me, not you. I am the most powerful. I shall have you for my breakfast. "

The tiger hears the fox's words and leaves10 .
