Last night, Dave met Tina. They {#blank#}1{#/blank#}about their last weekend. For Dave, the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} was very nice. On Saturday, he{#blank#}3{#/blank#}for the history test. On Sunday, he watched a (an) {#blank#}4{#/blank#} TV play. "It was great!" he said. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}Tina's weekend wasn't very good. She was really   tired because she had a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} weekend. She went shopping on Saturday morning and read a book {#blank#}7{#/blank#} music on Saturday afternoon. She visited {#blank#}8{#/blank#} grandmother on Saturday evening. On Sunday, she wrote {#blank#}9{#/blank#} new song for the school music festival. It was a little {#blank#}10{#/blank#}, so she asked her mother for help.

Stories sometimes describe snakes being cold-hearted characters. However, a team of scientists don't believe that. They say that one type of snake makes close friends.

The team of scientists did an experiment to see how garter snakes (带蛇) communicate with each other and to find out whether or not snakes make friends. The results turned out to be quite interesting.

The team gathered 40 garter snakes, and then put groups of ten garter snakes in an enclosure (围场). Inside the enclosure, there were four shelters (遮蔽物) for the snakes to go inside. The team then watched to see how the snakes behaved (表现)towards each other. They found the snakes were forming groups.

The experiment lasted eight days. Every day, the scientists took the snakes away from the enclosure. Then workers cleaned the space well. When the scientists put the snakes back in, they then went straight back to the same groups again! The scientists believed this could show the garter snakes make friends.

The team also said that they noticed two types of snake personalities (性格): shy and brave. Shy snakes were not ready to come out of the shelters inside the enclosure. But brave snakes were happy to do that.

Scientists of the team think we shouldn't be surprised that snakes form friendships. "All animals, even snakes, need to communicate with others." said Morgan Skinner, one of the scientists in the experiment.

It's not just snakes, though, that make friends. A recent scientific study found that dolphins do that, too.

Recycling is not only good for the environment, but also gives something that seems not so valuable a change to be something else. Mateo Lange, a 15-year-old from Michigan, US, is bringing1 to the environment and his community through his weekend recycling efforts.

At 11 years old, while playing baseball, Lange2 his team needed money for competitions. He soon came up with a plan. In Michigan, cans and bottles can be3 and redeemed ( 兑 换 ) for money. The amount is 10 cents per item and is added as an extra fee at the time of buying to4 litter and protect the environment.

With the help of his 5 , Lange started a recycling program, raising $7,500 in just a few weeks. "We've raised so much money, 6 why not continue as long as we can?" he said. This success made him7 and encouraged to continue the project with his father.

In 2019, Michigan stopped its recycling program, leading to bottles and cans8 accumulating (堆积) in people's homes.

Lange's recycling9 offered a solution. With his father's help, they helped people get rid of their recyclables and 10 did pickups from people's homes. "I'd just run out, knock on the door and say, ‘I'm here to11 litter.' I'd catch the bags and pull them to the truck," Lange said.

Since 2020, Lange's recycling plan has raised $350,000 and helped over 50 local youth groups. Besides, it has prevented more than 2 million bottles and cans12 polluting Michigan's roadsides, lakes and rivers. "It has kept our community a lot13 ," Lange said.

In 2023, Lange received the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes, recognizing14 environmental efforts and community impact. He believed the world would become a much better place.

Lange always said, "Be15 . Have an idea and build on it," Whenever he was asked about his cleanup achievements.

There are many reasons to enjoy drinking tea. However, you should let the hot tea cool down a little before you drink it. Why?A new study in the International Journal of Cancer gives the answer.

"Many people enjoy drinking tea, coffee or other hot drinks. However, according to our report, drinking very hot tea can increase the risk (风险) of esophageal cancer (患食道癌), so you'd better wait until hot drinks cool down before drinking," the lead writer of the study, Dr. Farhad Islami of the American Cancer Society, said.

For the study Islami and his team followed more than 50,000 people aged between 40 and 75 years old. They found 317 of those people had esophageal cancer. The National Cancer Institute reported that about 17,290 Americans had esophageal cancer in a year and that only about 19% of sick people survived. However, five years later, they died. 

The scientists found that drinking 700ml drinks (about three cups) every day or more at a higher temperature (温度)(60℃or hotter) would have a 90% higher risk of having esophageal cancer, compared (比较) with people drinking the same quantity at a temperature below 60℃.

This is not the first report showing a person drinking very hot drinks has the risk of cancer. In 2020, the World Health Organization showed a report. It found that drinking very hot drinks of any kind could increase the risk of cancer.

There was a space exhibition(展览) today. It was the 1  exhibition in my town because the next exhibition will be in six months. So when I heard the 2  , I decided to go there with my parents. The space exhibition was showing when we just 3  there. As we walked in, we saw a huge model of a 4  . This made people know about the living places of astronauts in space. 

Then we 5  the next exhibition area. There we saw models of all the 6  in our solar system. Our earth is one of them. It is blue 7  more than 70% of its surface(表面) is covered with water. I have read books 8  this fact, but seeing this model in real life is a new experience. 

I felt pleased to have the chance to 9  lots of things about space and the universe. I haven't thought about my future job 10  . But after seeing the exhibition, I decided to study hard.
