Zhu Yanjun won the second place in the Chinese Poetry Competition for his excellent poetry skills.

Born in {#blank#}1{#/blank#} village in Jingning County, Gansu Province, Zhu only received primary and middle school education. His love for {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(read) poetry and books came from his Chinese teacher who has published many {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(article) in magazines. "I also wanted to publish stories, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} I started to read," he told China Daily.

Although Zhu left school so early, he didn't stop his poetic journey. He worked {#blank#}5{#/blank#} more than 10 cities. Whenever he got to a city, he visited the bookstores and libraries there. He took a notebook to write down paragraphs from books and recite（背诵）{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(they).

Most of his favorite poems from the Tang Dynasty, and some of them {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(write) by Chairman Mao Zedong. Why? Because he found them easy {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(remember). Over the years, he has read thousands of poems and he can recite more than 1,000 of them now.

Reading poetry {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(help) Zhu stay calm and he never complains about hard work. "Whenever I face any difficulty, I think of a famous saying 'Nothing in the world is difficult for one who sets his mind to it'," he told China Daily.

Zhu's children were {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(interest) in poetry too. They were accepted into universities in different cities.

Mr. Green is very rich. On New Year's Day, he decided to 1 his worker Tom some money. He told Tom, "There are four bowls of porridge here. I 2 two gold coins in one of the bowls (碗) . Let's see if you have enough 3 to get them."

You can start becoming outgoing with your best friend or a group of friends. But the real challenge （挑战） comes when you meet strange （陌生的） people or new friends. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} In this way, you may have some talks.

There are lots of advantages in volunteer travel. By doing voluntary work while travelling, travellers may make a real, positive influence on the world. The services volunteers provide can reduce the costs for the communities they serve. Another advantage of volunteer travel is that it helps people living in cities experience the life in the countryside. For those who are tired of city life but can't move to the countryside, volunteer travel can be a way. In this way, travellers can relax themselves from the busy lives, while the countryside can get a lot by receiving more customers for local tourism industries(行业). 

Anger is a kind of feeling. Many things can make you angry. When your teacher gives you too much homework, when your team loses an important game, when a friend borrows your favorite thing and then breaks it, you may get really angry.

Usually, your body will tell you when you are angry. For example, you breathe (呼吸) faster, your face turns red, and you may want to break something or hit someone, but sometimes, you hide (隐藏) your anger. For example, you may hide it in your heart. The problem is that if you do this, you may get a headache or your stomach may hurt.

In fact, it's not good to hide your anger, and it's normal (正常的) for you to get angry sometimes. But anger must be let out in the right way, without hurting others or yourself. When you get angry, you can talk about it with other people. It's helpful to talk about your anger with an adult, such as parents, a teacher, etc. When you talk about anger, those bad feelings can start to go away. Here are some other things you can do when you start to feel angry: talk to a good friend; count from 1 to 100; give someone a hug; go for a bike ride; think about good things, etc. Remember that how you act when you are angry can make everything better or worse.

Don't let your anger control (控制) you. You can follow the ways mentioned above to deal with your anger.

A man was1 because he tried hard but always failed. He went to the 2 and met a wise hermit(隐士). The man asked, "Why should I keep trying?"

"Look," the hermit said, pointing towards3 plants. "Do you see that fern(蕨) and bamboo there?"

"Yes," the man nodded.

"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. Within a short period of time the fern 4 grew from the earth," the hermit continued. "But even though the bamboo seed was cared for years, there was no sign of 5 . But I did not give up on the bamboo seed and continued to water and take care of it. By the fifth year,a very small sprout(芽) came out from the earth. And within six months, the tree grew 6 tall. It was as tall as a seven-storey building."

"Did the bamboo stay still for four years and then grow a lot in the fifth?" asked the hermit. The man didn' t know what to say.

"It's simple," said the hermit. "It was making 7 roots underground. These roots helped it grow big in the fifth year and keep growing."

"Did you know that all the times you had been struggling(挣扎), you were growing strong 8 ?" said the hermit.

 The man learned his9 that day. He understood that persistence and hard work can10 , even if it takes time. The fern and the bamboo stood right in front of him as he walked towards his life to continue to work on his dreams.
