Most of us might want to do some great things to help others in need. But I found it's not completely(完全地)right.

I'm Wang Ling. This is a true story that happened(发生) to me last Sunday. That day, I planned to go to a bookstore. On the bus, I found that I only had a five-yuan note(纸钞). The bus driver didn't want to wait for me and was going to leave.

Then I looked around and went up to a grandma for some change(零钱). "I'm sorry," the grandma said. "I have no change, either." Just then, I really didn't know what to do. 

"Come here! I can help you," a young man smiled and said. He looked friendly. Then he gave me one yuan. When I was going to give my five yuan to him for the one yuan, he said, "I'm happy that I can help you. You don't need to give me the money. Just keep it."

With thanks, I put that warm coin into the money box on the bus and then sat near the young man. Yes, he seemed not to help me a lot. But his sunny face and kindness were always in my heart.

I like spending time with my grandfather-he's really nice. He lives alone in the next street and I see him most days after school. He {#blank#}1{#/blank#} helps with my homework-he's very good at maths. He doesn't work now, but he's got a lot of {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. He listens to music and he enjoys doing sports - he {#blank#}3{#/blank#} every day. He's very interested in photography (摄影) and he lets me use his new camera. We've got very {#blank#}4{#/blank#} ideas about one thing: phones! Sometimes, when I'm on my phone, he says, "Why don't you play football in the park with your friends?" Who {#blank#}5{#/blank#}? Maybe he's got the right idea!

When I was 16 years old, I made my first visit to the US. It wasn't the first time I had been 1 . Like most English children, I learnt French 2  school and I had often been to France. So I was used to speaking a foreign language to people who didn't understand 3 . When I went to America, I was really looking forward to 4  a nice and easy holiday. I hoped there were not any 5  problems. How 6 . I was! The misunderstanding began at the airport. I was 7  a public telephone to give my American friend Daisy a call and tell her that I had arrived. A friendly old man saw me looking like being lost and asked 8  he could help me or not. "Yes, "I said. "I want to give my friend a ring. ""Well, that's 9 . " he said. " Are you getting married? But aren't you a little bit too 10 ?"" Who is talking about marriage?"I replied. "I 11  want to give my friend a ring to tell her I've arrived. Can you tell me 12  the phone box is?""Oh!" he said, "there is a phone downstairs. "

When at last Daisy and I did meet up, Daisy explained the misunderstanding to me. "Don't worry, " she said to me. "I had so many 13  like this at first. There are lots of words that the Americans 14  differently in meaning from us British. You'll soon get used to all the funny things they say. But most of the 15 , British and American people understand each other. "
