Mike was the kind of guy you love to hate.He was always happy and always had something interesting to say. If someoneasked him how he was doing, he would reply, "Couldn't be better!" Hewas really a care-free young man and never felt tired.

    Mike used to say, "Each morning I wakeup and say to myself, 'Mike, you have two choices (选择) today. You can choose to be happy or you can choose to be upset.'I choose to be happy. Each time something happens, I am always ready to learn agood lesson. I choose to learn from life."

    I tried to understand what he said. Indeedlife is all about choices. Every situation is a choice. The bottom line is: You'reliving your life and you make it either happy or sad.

    Several years later I had a car accidentand my legs were seriously injured. When I was lying on the ground, Iremembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or choose to die. Ichose to live.

    People like to say, "Choosethe one you love and love the one you choose." Why not choose the one welove and live happily?

Clark and Dale were staying in the same room in a hospital. Clark was so sick that he could not even move his body._He had to spend all his time lying on his back. Dale could sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon. His bed was next to the room's only window. 

Over time, Clark and Dale became good friends. Every afternoon, Dale would look out of the room's only window, describing the scenery outside for his friend. He told Clark about the flowers in a park outside the window, the people walking by, the green trees beside roads—anything that might interest a man. 

One morning, when a nurse came to check on the two men, she found that Dale had died in his sleep. As soon as the room seemed tidy again, Clark asked if he could move to the bed next to the window so that he could look out of the window himself. The nurse agreed. Slowly, he could take his first look at the world outside. To his surprise, he could see nothing but a blank wall of another building. 

The nurse explained that Dale had been blind. He had never seen anything outside the window at all—but he described beautiful scenes to help his friend feel better. 

I didn't have any confidence（信心） in myself when I was young. That was because I was the strongest girl in my class but I had never been the{#blank#}1{#/blank#} kid among the classmates. But one thing changed me later.

 It was the first day of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} new school and I didn't know anyone. In the math class, the teacher explained a couple of problems to us and showed us how to deal with the similar problems. After solving the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} problem, she asked us to solve a problem by ourselves and write our answers on the whiteboards（白板） she gave us. Then we were {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to hold up our boards so that the teacher could see the answers. It seemed that everybody had the same answer except me. I could not {#blank#}5{#/blank#} crying because I was afraid that my classmates would laugh at me. The teacher came up to see{#blank#}6{#/blank#} was wrong. After looking at my answer{#blank#}7{#/blank#}, she said with a smile, "You are the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} one in the whole class that got the right answer." The moment I heard that, I started to smile. When the math class was {#blank#}9{#/blank#}, it was time for lunch. Everyone in the lunchroom was discussing how smart I was.

Mom gave us a big smile and told us to sit down for the breakfast. Happily, we sat down at the table and had breakfast. After breakfast, Claudio called me to his room. "It's time, brother, "he said. I thought he was saying that it was time for him to leave the house, but in fact he told me that I should do more for Mom than before after he let. 

I thought about his words twice and then understood everything. When he left home, I would learn to take care of the family just as he did before. That day I learned about family, love and duty(责任)
