Four brothers left home for college, and they became successful doctors and lawyers.

    Some years later, they got together again. While having dinner, they 1 for along time. They discussed the 2 they had given their elderly mother who lived far away in another city. The first said, "I had a 3 house built for Mama." The second said, "I had my Mercedes-Benz dealer (经销商) send a 4 to her.” The third said, "I built a beautiful 5 for Mama."     After the holidays their mother 12 her thank-you notes. She wrote: "Milton, the house you built is so huge. I only live in one room, but I have to 13 the whole house. It's a tiring job. Thanks anyway."

    A 16-year-old in foster care has finally found a home. His adoption caseworker (社会工作者), who has known him since he was 7, will become his adoptive mother this month.

    In October 2013, Davion Only spoke in front of a church congregation (会众) in St. Petersburg, Florida, and made an 1 for adoption. He had recently learned that his 2  mother, who'd been in jail since Only was born, had died. He had spent years bouncing between foster homes. “My name is Davion and I've been in foster care since I was born,” he said. “I know God hasn't given up on me, so I'm not giving up either.”

    The 3  plea (恳求) went viral, and Only's foster agency 4  calls from more than 10,000 people, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Only  5  traveling to Ohio to live with a minister's family. But after Only got into a physical  6  with one of his older would-be siblings (兄弟姐妹), the minister and his wife changed their minds.

    Back in Florida, Only passed through four different  7  homes over the next year, until he called Connie Going, his adoption caseworker, to make a special  8 .

    Only had known Going for nearly ten years, and had asked every year if she would adopt him but she always  9 . “I always believed there was a better family than us out there,” Going tells Yahoo Parenting. “He  10  so much in this world.”

    But this past July, when Only called and asked again if she might adopt him, Going says something felt  11 . “In adoption there is a ‘claiming moment,' when you know someone is your child. When he called me to ask, in that moment, I just knew,” she says. “When he asked me, my heart felt this  12  and I just knew he was my son.”

    So Going, 52, invited Only to start spending time  13  the rest of her family — the other four children who she also adopted out of foster care.  14 , Going managed to rent a bigger home, got a lawyer, and started adoption  15  .

    Only will officially join Going's family on April 22, when the adoption  16 . “Today, I am feeling blessed and honored by being chosen to be the parent to all my children,” she says. “I work every day on being the best parent I can to them, to be patient and creative so that I can  17  all their needs.”

    A spokesperson for Eckerd, Only's foster agency, told the Tampa Bay Times they were 18  with the new development. “We are truly thrilled that Davion has been united with his forever family.“

    While Going is waiting for the newest  19  to her family to become official in the eyes of the law, she says Only is already her child. “I want him to know he is  20  loved for who he is, the way he is,” she says. “The changes he chooses to make in his life, and the choices, are his to make. As a family we will be there through it all, the good and the bad for our lifetime. He is home.”

    Sometimes you meet an ordinary person doing something extraordinary. On a recent trip I met Normand Gallant. Normand is someone you could pass on the street and 1 notice but he is a very special person who2 recognition.

    Norm lives in a remote area far from the 3 big hospital, so when his wife4 cancer several years ago, Norm was faced with a four hour5to where she could be treated. That meant lots of6 for meals, fuel, hotels and so on. But in the end the cancer took his wife 7.

    Norm was obviously8 by his wife's passing, but he was also very angry, 9 he realized that other people were10 the same sorts of hardships. He wanted to do something but he didn't want to give money to the 11 that support cancer research because he didn't know how much would actually get to the researchers. What he did was to 12 parties.

    About every three weeks on Saturday evenings, there is a party in Norm's garage. There is music and dancing, and 13 during the evening Norm tells about a family who are having difficulties 14the cost of supporting a cancer patient undertaking 15 far from home. Then a honey-pail is passed around and the money 16, every cent of it goes 17 to that family.

    Norm's personal loss has 18 an act of kindness that honors the 19 of the wife he has lost. Wouldn't it be 20if we had more people in the world like Normand Gallant?  He makes the world a better place.

    I was walking home from school one day and it happened to be a particularly cold and windy day. It was 1and I was crazy enough to forget my hats and scarf. You can imagine my cheeks were rosy 2 and my hands were as numb as they can be.

    All of a sudden, an old lady 3 up beside me and asked if I would like a ride 4. At first, I said it was OK and her 5smile melted(融化) away the thought that I should never talk to 6! We had an amazing chat and she was just 7 a good woman. She told me her 8and she dropped me off.

    I didn't see her or talk to her for about a month and one night as I9 her kind gesture, I decided to return the favor. So, I made a lot of 10 and walked down to her house with my friend. At first I was a bit 11she wouldn't remember me or think that I was a bad man who poisoned cookies but luckily, I was 12 wrong. She was so happy, and she hugged me and kissed me and seemed so 13 that someone would do something like that!

    When I got home my mom told me that she 14and told my mom on the phone that she 15because she was so touched. She said she would never 16 the kindness that was given to her! That filled me with such 17! There really is nothing else joyful like helping 18and making someone's day 19!

    Let us never forget the joy we get 20 giving others a hand!

    On the night of August 24, 2001, everything changed when my friend's car hit a wall with me inside. I lost most of my right 1, and I was left bleeding with several broken bones. 2, my mind was still very clear in the hospital. I just kept telling myself to 3 and I 4 with the doctors that once I could roll onto my side, I would leave. They agreed. Two weeks later, I was 5 to go home.

    6 I left the hospital, the fight was far from over. My left knee was badly injured, which 7 different surgeries (外科手术) over the next few years. And soon, more of my right leg had to be 8. This made it harder to wear my false leg, so I donated it to a nurse who couldn't 9 one for herself, from 10 I gained greater happiness than the joy I felt on any day I was able to wear it myself.

    People often tell me they're 11 of me for staying strong. But in my mind, I can do 12 but stay strong. So, on the 13 I left the hospital, I made a promise to myself to 14 live life to the fullest. I soon 15 everyday life again, until one day I realized I wasn't living my life as 16 as I wanted to. After 13 years of thinking I was confident, 17, I knew I should help people around me.

    In 2014, I even started modeling. My dream is that one day a little girl will see me in a magazine and say, Wow, she's 18, and she had only one leg. I could do that too some day, even though I have a 19. My dream is simple, to 20 people to believe they are beautiful the way they are.

    I believe that life's toughest lessons are best learned through personal experience. Throughout my childhood, my grandmother 1 me with unconditional love but always stressed, "You're not 2 than anyone else, but you're just as good as anyone. Treat others with 3, and you would earn respect 4."

    However, I never really 5 it until I was seventeen and got a summer job as a janitor. As I 6 floors and toilets, I watched people walk right by me and ignore my 7. This made me feel angry and wonder why they treated me so poorly.

    When I 8 to my grandmother, she offered me some words of 9 and reminded me never to forget the feeling of being "10" and to do the best job, because it was still my work, in which I should take 11. She added that it would make me a better man someday.

    Make me a better man someday? She must be 12, I thought to myself. But I needed the job to 13 college and there were few other jobs available, 14 I bit my tongue and kept on working as best as I could for the 15 of the summer.

    Today, when asked what job helped prepare me to gain the 16 of a key university, I tell people it was my summer job cleaning restrooms that 17 me as a man and, down the road, as an educator.

    As you can see, 18 can only be understood by walking in a lot of different shoes. So I suggest students 19 of their comfort zones and get deeply involved in different work and community experience. It's essential for people to find 20 in every person, no matter who they are or what they do for a living.
