Two men were sitting together in a plane. They were on a long journey. One of the men was a businessman. The other was a farmer. They sat without talking for a while, and then the farmer said, "Let's do something to pass the time."
"What do you want to do?" the businessman asked.
"We can ask each other riddles(谜语)," the farmer said.
"OK. Let's make rules first," the businessman said. "If you don't know the answer to a riddle, you pay me $ 100. And if I don't know the answer, I' ll pay you$100."
"That's not fair(公平). You are a businessman with much knowledge. You know more things than I do. I am just a farmer," the farmer said.
"That's true," the businessman said. "What do you want us to do?"
"If you don't know the answer to a riddle, you pay me $ 100. And if I don't know the answer, I' ll pay you $50," the farmer said. The businessman thought about this, and then he said, "OK. That's fair. Who will go first?"
"I will," the farmer said. "Here is my riddle. What has three legs when it walks, but only two legs when it flies?"
The businessman thought for a long time and said, "Mm, that's a good one. I'm afraid I don't know the answer." He gave the farmer $ 100, and then he said, "Tell me the answer."
"I don't know," the farmer said. Then he gave the businessman $50.
Gordon stands in the hallway(走廊). No one is there. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} It's 8: 10 a. m. He is late for class. He has to go to the music room, but he doesn't know where it is.
He knows the music room isn't on the first floor. His classroom is on the first floor. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} He knows he has to walk quickly. The teacher will be worried(担心的).
Gordon goes to the second floor and he turns(转弯) to the right. He goes down the hallway. On the left, he sees a door. "It may be the music room," he thinks. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} A young teacher is in it. Gordon asks the teacher, "Sorry, I'm new here. Do you know where the music room is?"
"Sure," the teacher says. "It's on the third floor. Go upstairs and turn left. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} That is the music room. "
Gordon thanks her and goes upstairs. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} "There you are!" Mr. Lewis says. "Your music teacher Mrs. Green asks me to find you." Gordon says, "I find you first!"
