Sudha Chandran, a classical dancer from India, had to have herright leg cut after an accident. She was also cut off on her career (事业) road.

    Though the accident brought her bright career to a stop, shedidn't1. In the painful months, Sudha met a doctorwho had a(n)2 onher leg. So eagerly she wanted to go back to dancing after she had been fitted witha man-made leg. Sudha believed in herself and thought she could realize her dream,so she3 onher brave journey back to the world of dancing.

    After every public performance, she might ask her dad aboutit. "You still have a long way to go!" That was the4 she used to get from her father. In January 1984,Sudha made a historic comeback5giving a public performance in Bombay. Sheperformed in such a great manner that it moved6 to tears (眼泪) and this performance pushed her to number oneposition again. That evening when she asked her dad the same question, he didn't7 anything. He just touched herfeet as a praise.

    Sudha's comeback was so8 that a film producer decided to make the storyinto a hit film. It has moved more and more people.

    People wondered9 Sudhacould manage to dance again. When she was asked the question, she would just answerquite10 ,"YOUDON'T NEED FEET TO DANCE." Where there is a will, there is a way.

I was living in a house with a long history in Halifax, Nova Scotia five years ago. One day, one of my friends from the West Coast came to visit me. He was 1 for three weeks so he brought a lot of bags and suitcases, and other things like a 2  . I told him that he could sleep on the bed in the front living room.

One morning after a late night of drinking, my friend ran into my room, shouting, "FIRE! FIRE!"Without 3  , I jumped out of bed. The floor was 4  against my feet as I ran out into the hallway, right behind my friend. I couldn't see the fire anywhere, 5  as we ran towards the front door, I could hear the 6  making a loud noise all around me. It was inside the 7  . We ran out into the front yard and 8  at the house, seeing black smoke coming out of the 9  house.

We were standing there watching the house when I looked down and 10  all of my friend's bags and suitcases 11  lined up on the front grassland, including his basketball. When he noticed the house was on fire, he took 12  out to the grassland first. And then he came back to 13  me about it. That fire had started in the basement(地下室), and it spread up into the walls and was burning the 14  we were standing on. The floor and much of the house fell down not long after we came out. The firemen said we were very 15  .

Of course, we are not friends any more.

Mother's Day is always a fun time at my house every year. This year is no exception. My brother and I want our mom to feel 1 by giving her a day off from family chores. 

In the morning，I woke up before everyone else to hang up a poster that 2 "Happy Mother's Day". My dad also got up3 and helped set up a rose bouquet(玫瑰花束) in a vase. When my mom woke up，she read cards we laid out next to her bed with a big smile. While she was watching the morning news with my dad，it was time to 4 my cooking skills. I made some delicious food with my brother's help. My mom and I love board games，so after a short 5 around the neighborhood，we played all of her favorites. In my family，playing a fun board game turns into a big6 and can become very heated. One of us always becomes a sore loser after being beaten in the game. The afternoon games made all of us tired. A delicious takeout dinner from my mom's favorite restaurant 7 us. The festivities(庆祝活动)8 with ice­cream and more quality family time，while we were watching one of my mom's favorite movies from her teenage years. 

It was such a 9 day，and it was great to be able to show my mom how much we appreciate her and thank her for10 she does for our family. Mother's Day should be every day.

 Aishvarya and Vaishali live in America with their parents. Their grandparents live in India (印度).{#blank#}2{#/blank#} . To know them well, the sisters make a book. It's a good book. It has the sisters' questions(问题) and their grandparents' answers(回答).{#blank#}3{#/blank#} .

 To make the book, the sisters go to India to visit their grandparents. Their grandmother tells many stories, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} . He is a quiet man. But he writes many stories.

 The sisters share the book with their friends. One of their friends says, "What a great book!{#blank#}5{#/blank#} ."

A young man went to an expert on gems(宝石)and wanted to learn from him. The expert shook his head He worried that young men wouldn't have the patience to learn. In his opinion, they were always in a hurry. 

The young man asked the expert many times to let him have a try. Finally the expert said, "Be here tomorrow. "

The next morning, the expert put a jade(翡翠)stone in the man's hand and told him to hold it. The expert then went about his work, cutting, weighing and setting gems. The man sat and waited excitedly. The following morning the expert again placed the jade stone in the man's hand and told him to hold it. On the third, fourth, and fifth day the expert repeated the action. 

On the sixth day the young man still had to hold the jade stone, but he could no longer stand the silence. "Sir, "he asked, "when am I going to learn something?"

"You will learn. "the expert replied. 

Several more days went by. The man became more and more impatient. However, when the expert placed a stone in his hand one morning, the young man shouted without looking at it, "This is not the same jade stone!" "You have begun to learn, "the expert said with a smile.
