A few years ago, I learned that the city food bank needed some help. After hearing the news, I thought about setting up a group that would {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(志愿) to make and serve dinner for the {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(有残疾的) people who are {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(失明的),{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (聋的), dumb(不能说话的)…I used to be the organizer among my friends. So, I made a {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(决定) to send {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(信) among ten of my friends to invite them to be part of the group. To my {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(惊讶), almost all of them agreed to join.

One day, one of my friends brought some food and helped prepare the meal."I got such a {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(强烈的) {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (感觉) of satisfaction when I saw the disabled people get the food!"said one friend. Later, a friend made a list about serving to make sure that we could do {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (很快地) and easily. Now each month, there are new members to join the group. One woman even invited a group of her friends to join in serving. It's hard to {#blank#}11{#/blank#} (想象) that simple letters asking friends for help have made such a great {#blank#}12{#/blank#}(不同). At first, I simply wanted to {#blank#}13{#/blank#}(创建) up a meaningful group.Now,I {#blank#}14{#/blank#}(改变) my idea. I also love to volunteer, because I can find {#blank#}15{#/blank#}(愉快) through helping people in need.

Dan is a Grade 7 student and he is 13 years old. He lives on Oak Street in Toronto, Canada. Dan is waiting for the bus because he is going home now. There are also some other people waiting at the bus stop. Dan is looking at them and thinking about where they are going.

There is a short man. He is wearing a blue jacket and a baseball cap. He is reading a map. Maybe he is a tourist(旅游者).There is an old man with glasses. He looks like Dan's grandfather. Dan wants to know where the old man is going. Is he moving to a new town? There is a girl standing near the old man. She looks very worried and is looking at her watch. Maybe she is late for work.

The bus finally comes and Dan gets on with the other people. Dan thinks he can write a story about the people he saw at the bus stop today.

Hi, I'm Nancy. On September 9, 2010, I was told that I had a new baby sister. I had a selfish thought at that moment—Mom and Dad are going to be with the baby all the time and buy her all kinds of toys. I will get half as much love from them as before. 

A few days later doctors told my parents that my sister had hearing problems. 

We made several trips to a famous hearing center, but the treatments didn't work, so my family began learning sign language. Actually, here my family only refer to my parents and sister, not me. My parents spent hours with my sister teaching her and themselves by playing sign language games. But I didn't want to learn with them. I did my own things every day. 

Years passed. The summer before the ninth grade, as my parents had to work, it was up to me to take care of my sister. This meant sending her to summer school in the morning, playing with her after finishing our homework and cooking delicious food for her. 

One day my mother asked me to sign something, and I failed. My mom was sad about it. This hit me hard and I came to realize how selfish I was. I needed to talk to my sister. But I couldn't even sign the easiest sentences like "Where are you going?" or "What do you want to eat?"

It was at that time that I started to go to sign language classes with my family. We sat down watching sign language movies and playing sign language games. 

Today I can communicate well with my sister. It brings a smile to my face when my sister signs something to me about my friends, and they can't understand. I realized it was no fun not knowing what my family was saying. 

So, if you have a family member with special needs, don't leave her or him alone. This person should be the first thing on your mind. For me, signing now comes before school, friends and sports, because it is the language of my family!

Zhou Yan is a middle school student in Sichuan Province. She has got a new mobile phone (手机)! It's a gift from her parents. They want her to use it to learn English during the coming winter holiday. But Zhou uses it to watch videos (视频) and send messages (信息). She plays with her mobile phone all the time, even after going to bed! Her parents get very angry about that.

This morning, when she gets up, Zhou finds that she can't move her hands. Her parents take her to a doctor right away. After checking her carefully, the doctor says Zhou Yuan has got "mobile phone disease (疾病)". She'd better stop using her mobile phone right away, or she will have more problems (问题). Now Zhou uses her mobile phone for 30 minutes a day.

So, if you've just got a phone, watch out! Don't use it too much. Or you will get mobile phone disease. Remember if you find your arms and fingers start to hurt (疼), go to see a doctor right away. That's important.

Last Tuesday was a good day. The sun was high in the sky and the sky was very blue. Tom said goodbye to his parents and then took a bus to school for an exam. The exam was important to him. His parents expected him to get a good grade and hoped that he would get a place at a top university. Suddenly （突然） a lorry （货运汽车） stopped in front of the bus. Although the bus driver tried his best to stop，the bus still went into the lorry. There was a terrible noise. Luckily no one was hurt （受伤的） in the accident （事故）. Tom got off the bus. He felt a little. "What should I do if I can't get to the exam on time？"he said to himself. A policeman saw Tom and asked him whether （是否） he was OK. Tom told the policeman that he would take a very important exam at 9：00 a. m. and now it was already 8：40 a. m. The policeman picked up his phone and asked a police car to come at once. When it arrived，he asked the driver to take Tom to school as fast as he could. Tom arrived at school five minutes before the exam started. So Tom was able to take the exam on time. 

Mary is a three-year-old girl. One day, her parents can't find her in the house. 

"Where is Mary? Is she in the garden(花园)?" Asks Mrs Brown. 

"Maybe(可能) you are right. Let's go to the garden, " says Mr Brown. 

When they come to the garden, they see Mary sitting under a tree. 

"Hello, My name is Mary. Good morning. Glad to meet you here. I like green, and I like eating bananas. What do you like?"

"Who are you talking to, Mary?" asks Mr and Mrs Brown. 

"I'm talking to my new friends, " Mary says. 

Who is Mary talking to? Do you know? She is talking to some ants(蚂蚁) under the tree. What a lovely(可爱的) girl she is!
