Last summer I got the chance to spend a month helping out in a hospital in Africa. I had one year left at school, and I was  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(interest) in studying medicine at university.

Working there introduced me to a world that is very different from  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(I) in so many ways. I was shocked(震惊的) that many families over there had such  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}poor and difficult life. But I was also surprised at how positively people spend their daily  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (life). They come together and help each other, and that's something a lot of us here in the UK have forgotten. My work in the hospital  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(be) hard. Not only did I spend a lot of time cleaning floors, but also I got to spend some time looking after the patients (病人)  {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(careful). And I liked  {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(talk) to some doctors and asking them about the job. I saw some truly awful(极坏的) things in the hospital,  {#blank#}8{#/blank#}none of them changed my mind about being a doctor. {#blank#}9{#/blank#}fact, they only made me more determined to learn medicine.

 {#blank#}10{#/blank#}I finished the work, I knew what I'm going to do in the future: I want to work for an international organisation like the Red Cross. I can't wait to get started.

As summer comes around, outdoor activities are getting more and more popular. One of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} is bike riding, or biking. The biking craze (热潮) is now sweeping through China.

Wang Jing is a student from Hangzhou. She {#blank#}2{#/blank#} exercised before because she didn't like sports much. But since her hometown hosted the Asian Games in 2023, her interest in sports has {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a lot. She has realized the benefits of sports {#blank#}4{#/blank#} is now a big fan of biking.

"I feel free and peaceful {#blank#}5{#/blank#} I ride," Wang said. "Biking allows me to experience the beauty along the road and the world seems to slow down," she added. Wang is only one of those who are deeply in love with biking. In {#blank#}6{#/blank#} like Chengdu and Beijing, thousands of people have started to join in the biking craze.

Will the craze in China last for a long time? The {#blank#}7{#/blank#} is "Yes." Thanks to the craze, there have been events like group rides and bike festivals. These create a sense of community {#blank#}8{#/blank#} bikers. They share road information, biking experience and sometimes even meals. They are just like a{#blank#}9{#/blank#} family. As biking has become a lifestyle, experts {#blank#}10{#/blank#} that this biking craze will continue. They expect a sharp increase in the number of bike riders.

At the age of 16, Einstein always played with a group of naughty kids. He was so busy playing, so he didn't study enough and failed his final exam.

One morning, when Einstein was holding a fishing rod and was about to go fishing with his friends, his father1 him and said calmly, "Einstein, you're so fond of playing all day that you failed your exam. I'm worried about your future."

"What are you worrying about? Jack and Robert also failed, but they could 2 go fishing." "My boy, you can't think like that," his father said. "There is a story that people tell in our hometown. Listen to it now."

Hearing this, Einstein thought for a while and then laid down his fishing rod and returned to his room. He decided to pay more attention to his6 and less attention to what his friends were doing. This allowed him to be successful.

Once there lived a wise man who had a very lazy son. The wise man was worried about his son's 1 for the son did nothing all day long. One day he said to his son， "There was some treasure in a faraway place and I want you to find it 2 ， no matter how long it takes you. I have drawn a map to guide you and it will be your only partner. " Then he gave his son a bag. Inside the bag there 3 some food， a little money and the map. 

His son set out on his long journey the next day. He had to travel across forests， rivers and mountains. Along the way，he was helped by some with food and by some with shelter（住所）. He also saw changing scenery（风景）and different seasons. Finally， he reached the place his father4 . He spent two days digging for the treasure，but found 5 . 

Feeling 6 ， he had to go home. On his way back， he sometimes would stop to enjoy the beauty of nature. He also learned to hunt and make meals. He had to fix his own shelter by himself. He was able to tell 7 by the position of the sun，find his way out by the marks he made and protect himself 8 wild animals. Also，he met the same people who had helped him 9 . This time，he helped them in return. 

After he reached home， he apologized（道歉）to his father because he didn't find the treasure. "There wasn't any treasure in the very first place，my son，" the father answered with a smile. "10 I think you have found your life's true treasure. "

Today is my first day in this school，and I want to tell you something about my 1 school. 

My school is not 2 but very beautiful. It is next to the Luofu Mountain. There is a shop between our school and the park. 

 There are 3 buildings in our school——three classroom buildings，an office building，a dining hall，and a library. There are many 4 in my school. We study hard（努力地） in class. After class，we 5 games together. The teachers are 6 but sometimes strict（严厉的）. Behind the classrooms，there is a big playground. On each side of it，there are tall 7 and many kinds of flowers. On the 8 of it，we can play basketball. On the left，we can play volleyball. In the middle，we can play football. Every day，we have fun together on the 9 .
