Feng Boyao and MengShuqi found that their city library didn't have enough Braille books for blindpeople and many of the Braille books were out of date. 

So, they teamed up to help the blind by fixing the problem. Feng and Meng both studied at No.37 MiddleSchool in Taiyuan, Shanxi province. They invented a new kind of Braille reader. Their work won first prize ina national competition aiming to nurture creative thinking by encouraging youths to solve social problems. The invention was also granted（授予）a national patent（专利）. When connected to a computer, their Braillereader can turn words into raised dots（凸起的点）. Blind people can read by touching the dots, which aremagnets（磁铁）. This is the first Braille reader that uses magnets. 

"We found that today's Braille readers are very difficult and expensive," Feng said. "So, we decided todevelop a user-friendly product, especially for young blind children from grades1 to 3. Moreover, it only costsabout 2000 yuan."

After making their first device, Feng and Meng visited a school for the blind to get advice and improvedit based on the students' needs, like changing the size of the screen and the amount of space between the dots. "We hope the invention will be popularized（普及）in the future to help those blind people who can't affordthe Braille reader now," Meng told Taiyuan News.

The woman brought him what he asked for, but she was not patient. Soon the word spread through the village and many people came, wanting to see what this stranger would do. "It's almost finished, " the traveler said. "But it would be even nicer if there were some carrots and potatoes. "

"I have potatoes, " said an old lady. 

"I have some carrots, " a young man answered. 

A few minutes later, these were added in. Soon, the air was filled with the nice smell. "Is it ready?" the first woman asked. "Yes, but if we can add some meat to the stone soup, it will taste more delicious, " he replied. "I have beef, " shouted a man who was watching from a window.

 In her book, A life in the Trees, Rebecca Moore travels 15,000 kilometers from London to Papua New Guinea. In Papua New Guinea, Rebecca meets the Kombai people. She talks about their lives in the jungle(丛林).

 Moore lived with the Kombai women and children for three months. Kombai life is very different. The Kombai people have no watches and no cars. There is no school for the children. Parents teach their children to cook, hunt(狩猎) and swim.

 The Kombai get up every morning at sunrises. Kombai men hunt in the jungle. They can hunt for 12 hours. They also cut down sago palms(西米棕榈). This tree is important. The women cook the inside of the tree. The Kombai people eat this food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

 The most important part of Kombai life is building their tree houses. The men, women and children all help build tree houses. Each house is 20 meters high. The stories in this book which has been written in Japanese and Chinese show the Kombai people's lives in the trees.
