My name is John. Ilive in a small {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(城镇) and I study in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (初级的) school. I usually go to school by {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (自行车). The {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (交通) in this small town is not very {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (繁重的), so it usually takes the ten minutes to get to school. Myclassmates are very {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (友好的)but my teachers are very {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(严格的). I get on well with them. I am not good at maths, so I {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (担心) about it very much. Bob is my good friend and he does well in maths.I often ask him a lot of {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (问题) about maths and he is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (高兴的) to help me with my maths. I'm very glad to have such a good friend.

I remember my first day at university very clearly.

I felt excited and happy. At the same time I was very nervous because I didn't know anyone. However, my first day at university was unforgettable..

At first, I was lost. I didn't know where to go. I had to ask a stranger where to meet other new students. He was very polite and showed me the way. I walked through some buildings, and when I arrived, I saw many students and I felt even more nervous.

It is natural that we feel nervous on the first day at university, but difficult experiences often have happy endings.

I told myself to be braver. I talked with one girl and we found that we were in the same class. We introduced ourselves. Her name was May. We did some activities together in a group. Soon, I started feeling much better.The activities helped me feel that I was part of a team and I began to feel that I was a university student.

Later, we began our classes. The teacher talked for a while and then we introduced ourselves. I met two girls. Their names were Jane and Anna. We started talking soon and became friends with each other. It was really a special day for me.

It's 8：00 am. A new term(学期)begins. This is the first class. 

Betty's new teacher comes into the classroom. She is a nice girl. "Good morning, boys and girls. Welcome to Class 3, Grade 7. I'm your English teacher—Helen Miller. You can call me Ms Miller or Helen. I'm from London and my phone number is 8336 001. I hope you like me. " 

"I like you, Helen，"one girl says. "My name's Kate King. I'm from Oxford. My phone number is 8975 002. " Then Kate gives a red flower to Ms Miller. 

"Helen, I love you，"one boy says. "I'm Dave Black from Cambridge. My phone number is 8790 041. "And Dave gives a red flower to Ms Miller, too. 

After that, two girls stand up and say, "We like you, too, Ms Miller. " Helen is surprised (惊讶的) to see them. They look the same. "We're twins from Liverpool，"one girl says. "I'm Lucy Brown and she is Lily Brown. Our phone number is 8790 032. " Then Ms Miller gets two red flowers again…

Last Monday, Miss Li cheerfully asked her students what their weekends were like. A boy said that he had spent a1 weekend —he had his teeth pulled out and they still hurt. 

"Miss Li, why do you always seem to be so2 ? "he asked. 

Hearing the question, Miss Li answered with a smile, "Every morning, you have a choice about how you will treat your whole day. I3 to be cheerful. "

"And today is my lucky day. "she added. "This morning. I rode my e-bike to school as usual.4 , the c-bike didn't work, so I had to go another kilometer down the road. "

"The e-bike is broken and it's your lucky day? "The students were amazed. 

"What do you mean, Miss Li? "one girl asked curiously(好奇地). 

"It broke down a quarter.5 class, so I left it at a right place and walked down the road. You know, it's spring now. The beautiful flowers, green trees and sweet bird songs were greeting me all the way. So I had the chance to 6 them. It took me ten minutes to arrive and I was still able to teach my class on time. "

The students' eyes opened wide, and then they smiled. Miss Li gave a 7 back. At that moment, her story touched them. She was happy that her students had a perfect chance to think about8 in a new way. Thinking in a different way can bring us a new world. 

Wilbur is a fat and strong pig. He and other animals live on Mr Zuckerman's farm. He has a good friend called Charlotte. Charlotte is a spider (蜘蛛) and she is very good at spinning webs (织网). Days ago, the old sheep told Wilbur that Mr Zuckerman would kill him for Christmas dinner. Wilbur was afraid, but Charlotte said she would help him. 

Charlotte spent days and nights writing nice words about the pig Wilbur on her webs. They were excellent, humble (谦虚的), some pig and so on. 

"Wilbur is such a great pig. We will not kill him," Mr Zuckerman told Mrs Zuckerman. 

Wilbur isn't afraid any more. He comes to tell Charlotte the good news. "Do you feel happy for me, Charlotte?" Charlotte answers, "Sure, my friend." "Thank you so much, Charlotte. You make me a great pig, but you look so tired. What's the matter?" Wilbu r asks. 

Charlotte thinks for a minute and says, "Wilbur, I'm too tired. I'm afraid I'm going to die. I'm leaving you …" Wilbur begins crying. 

"Don't be sad, Wilbur! I'm just a spider. I'm nobody. But by helping you, my life is valuable (有价值的). Thank you!" Wilbur says in a sad voice. "What can I do, Charlotte? I would like to give you my life. I really would."

Charlotte smiles and says, "I believe in you. Look at the egg sac (卵囊). There are 540 eggs in it. That means I can have 540 children. You can look after them well, right?"

Wilbur says yes and cries again …

I felt coming steps. She was coming to teach all things to me, and to love me. 

I still remember the morning my teacher came, she led me into her room and gave me a doll (玩具娃娃). When I had played with it a little while, Miss Sullivan slowly spelled into my hand the word "d-o-l-l". I was at once interested in this finger play and tried to imitate (模仿) it. When I succeeded in making the letters correctly, I was so excited and proud. I did not know I was spelling, even didn't understand everything has a name. 

 Once, as I was playing with my new doll, Miss Sullivan put my old doll onto my leg, spelled"d-o-l-l" and tried to make me understand they were both dolls. Another time, she tried to tell me that"m-u-g" is mug and that"w-a-t-e-r" is water, but I still mixed them up. Hopelessly, she had to teach me from the beginning.  ▲ , so I threw the new doll upon the floor. 

I was quite happy when I felt the pieces of the broken doll at my feet. I was neither sad nor regretful. In my still, dark world, there was no warmth or love. I felt my teacher sweep the pieces aside, and it seemed that my trouble moved away. 

Later, we walked down the path to a well house. Someone was drawing water(抽水) and she placed my hand under the spout. As the cool stream flowed over one hand, she spelled the word"w-a-t-e-r" into the other, first slowly, then rapidly. I stood still and paid my whole attention on her fingers. Suddenly I knew "w-a-t-e-r" meant the wonderful thing flowing over my hand. That living word awakened my soul, gave it light, hope, joy, and set it free!

I left the well house and wanted to learn more about the world. As we returned to the house, I remembered the doll I had broken. I picked up the pieces and tried to put them together. Then I cried, for I realised what I had done, and for the first time I felt sad and regretful. 

I learned many new words that day. I do not remember what they all were, but I do know that mother, father, sister and teacher were among them. It would have been difficult to find a happier child than I was. While lying in my bed at the end of that day, I hoped for a new day to come for the first time.
