"Where is Bob?" asked Dad. "In his room." Anna answered. She was trying to decide on the birthday gift for Dad. This year, she wanted something that couldn't{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (buy) at a store. Bob{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (real) wanted a toy dragon in the cereal (麦片) box, so he was a bit sad at finding nothing.

"Let's see what the box says, "Anna suggested. "I can't read." "You can't because you don't know how to read," she said carefully. Last year, Dad made a decision.to teach him to read, but {#blank#}4{#/blank#} result was terrible. They both gave up. Anna finished {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (read) the box. "No promise of a toy dragon," she said. "I wish you could read. So does Dad, she added. The conversation swept away Anna's worry {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a gift for Dad. "Maybe we can prepare it together." she thought.

Soon Anna had an idea—to write and read a dragon story for Dad. When she shared it with Bob, he shook his head. Anna felt disappointed. Without{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (Bob) help, there would be no present. "We'll try for ten days," She said. "Then we'll decide if it'll work." Bob counted with his fingers, saying loudly, "Just ten days."

The first day was the hardest. "I need your help, Bob," Anna said. "Just tell me{#blank#}8{#/blank#} you felt when discovering there was no dragon." "I was mad and sad." "That's it." She then printed this on the notebook: I was mad{#blank#}9{#/blank#} sad, too. Bob watched. "Which word is ' mad'?" Anna pointed. "What's next?" Anna asked. Bob was silent. "It's a story," she said. "You're the teller. If you can't do it, I will." "No! I want to tell{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (many) than today." Bob shouted. "So…that night I. "Each day, Bob told more of his dragon stary.
