"The more you work the land (地), the better your crops (庄稼) will be." That's what our school told us during (在……期间) our Growing Week! 

In the morning, we went to our rooms. Then, our teacher 1 us how to make the bed and where to put our things. At first, we didn't know why we needed to 2 these simple things. But the teacher said, "Even simple things can be 3 until (直到) you know how to do them."

At lunchtime, the teachers told us, "You have to 4 after eating." At first, we didn't do it very well, 5 the teachers showed us the right way to clean them. After that, the dishes looked very clean!

In the evening, the teachers taught us how to 6 rice. We made some mistakes (错误) at first, but 7 , we got it right with lots of hard work! We were so 8 , because we were eating food made by ourselves. That night, we ate all the rice. 

Time went by 9 , and Growing Week ended. I really had a good time and learned a lot. Now, I think it's time for me to help out 10 at home.

A man was driving a car in Texas when a policeman stopped him. The man said to the policeman，"Is there a problem，officer？"

"No. I just saw that you were driving very carefully and you are the winner of our competition（竞赛）for safe（安全）driving. You will get 5，000 dollars. Congratulations！What are you going to do with the money？"

The man thought for a minute and said，"Well，I guess I'll go and get a driving license（执照）. "

The lady who was sitting next to the man said to the policeman，"Oh，don't listen to him. He makes jokes when he is drunk. "

The man from the back seat said，"I told you that we wouldn't go far in a stolen（偷来的）car！"

At that moment，there was some noise from the trunk（后备箱）and a voice said，"Are we in Mexico yet？"

Konchog Rapten is ten years old. He is in the fifth grade. His school stands as the highest school in the town. It is in Nyingchi, Xizang autonomous region (自治区). It is about 4, 000 meters above sea level (海平面). 

The school is now holding 397 students. Most of the students are from alpine pastoral regions (高寒牧区). Some of them live more than 50 kilometres away. As a result, most students choose to live at the school during the school year. 

The school is filled with modern facilities (设施). It has indoor and outdoor basketball courts and two soccer fields. Every classroom has a smart touch-screen computer. 

To make it easier for students to travel to/from school, the school has a special timetable. Students go to school for ten days and then enjoy a four-day break. For Konchog Rapten, this is perfect during the summer. It is when the family moves to the pasture (牧场). He helps his father with the animals and his mother with her work. "If there is no boarding (寄宿), it would be very difficult to do well in both school and daily life," the father says. He added that their summer pasture is about an hour's drive to school. 

Every day, after washing up and having breakfast in the morning, Konchog Rapten begins his day of study with his classmates. They have all their breakfasts, lunches and dinners at school. They also enjoy snacks like bread, fruit and yogurt during breaks. After evening self-study classes, students go to bed before 10 p. m.
