A girl went to her father and told him that her life was too hard. She said she couldn't work all the difficulties out 1. She just wanted to give up.

Her father said, "I think I know 2 I can help you. 3 me." They went into the 4. Her father put a potato, an egg and some coffee beans into three different bowls of water. Then, he started to boil (煮沸) the water on the stove.

After some time, he turned the stove 5 and took out the potato, the egg and the beans. He then showed each of them to his daughter.

"Look. The potato was hard before I boiled it, but now, it is 6 and weak. The egg was fragile (易碎的) until I put it in the water—now, it is hard inside. But the coffee beans were different. When they met the boiling water, they changed and became delicious 7."

Life 8 problems to us all. The potato, egg and coffee beans were all met with the same problem. But they each solve the problem in their own way. It is up to you to take the difficulties you face and find something good in 9. By making a(n) 10, the father taught his daughter a life lesson.

Today is July 21. Most people are enjoying their weekend now. John is watching a magic show at the Capital Stadium with his parents and a friend from Australia. 

The girl is Megan, she is staying at John's for her holiday now. Her parents and brother Andy are now visiting the zoo. Their father is taking photos of many animals, like elephants, pandas, zebras and tigers. But Andy likes monkeys most and he is now watching them jumping and playing. 

Andy's cousin Julia is at her friend's birthday party. There she meets Lily, Daming, Joy and Lingling. They are having a happy talk and drinking some juice. Julia's grandparents are having a Taijiquan class, while her mother is shopping for presents. Julia's family is going back home to the Unite States next Thursday, so her father is booking plane ticket on the Internet. 

I'm Linda. In my home, there's a black and white thing. We call it Xiaodu. When you say " Xiaodu, Xiaodu", it says to you,"I'm here!" When you say" Good morning!" it says," Good morning!" to you.

 In the morning, it is my clock. When it's 7:00, it tells me the time.

 For my mom, Xiaodu is a library. It reads books to her every day.

 My brother is 3 years old. He often asks Xiaodu for help," What's a telephone?"" What's a tape player?"… For him, Xiaodu is a dictionary.

 Xiaodu is our good friend. We love it. Oh, where is it? It's on the TV set now.

The teenager life is nice. You can enjoy it. You can do many things in your teenager years. 

Study hard at school School life sometimes is difficult, but it is really important in your teenager years. So always do your homework after school first. 

Make good friendsYou needn't know everyone at school, but it's important for you to make some good friends. Your friends can make you happy and help you. You don't need many friends. But the quality of your friends is really important. 

Have your hobbies Look for some interesting things. You can read books, sing songs and play basketball. Don't be afraid to do new things. 

Do volunteer (志愿者) work This kind of work can make you be good. And it can help you with your study and get good work. It is very good. 

Are you at a new school? Being a new student can make you worried at first, but if you are afraid of it too much, you can't live a happy school life. Here are different ways to get along with your classmates, from joining in after-school activities to starting a conversation(交谈) in class. Here are some tips to help you make new friends at school.

Introduce yourself to people first. Start by offering your name first. A basic introduction is a great way to put yourself out there. You might also talk about something that you are good at. For example, if you say you are good at playing the piano, someone may want to learn more about the piano.

Give a hand to a classmate in need. Helping a classmate is a good way to make friends. You might help someone pick up the notebooks they dropped or let someone borrow a pencil. Being kind is a great way to make friends with others, such as offering part of your lunch to someone who forgot theirs or offering to read textbooks together with someone who forgot to bring theirs.

Keep your eye out for classmates with same interests. Look at your classmates' interests and activities. Do you see someone reading your favorite book or wearing a T-shirt of your favorite color? These common interests can help you find people you' re more likely to get along with.

One winter morning after breakfast, I went to the garden and was very surprised. I saw my father's big footprints in the snow. I knew those footprints well. I didn't know what to do—I need help. 

When I got back to my room, I opened the door. And there was my father, sitting on my bed!

The man sitting on my bed was about fifty and had long, dirty black hair and a black beard(胡须)—he was my father. His clothes were very old and dirty, and his face was terribly white and thin. His shoes had holes in them and his hat did, too. He looked terrible. 

" I see you're wearing nice new clothes, " he said, looking at me. 

" Widow Douglas bought them for me, " I said. 

" And look at this nice bed and soft blankets(毛毯), and I have to sleep with the pigs!" he said. " I know that she's sending you to school, and you probably think you're better than your father, don't you?"

" Maybe I do and maybe I don't, " I answered without thinking. 

" Remember, Huck, I'm your father, not that Widow Douglas, " he cried, looking at me angrily. " Now I'm here and you're my son again, and sons do what their fathers tell them. I've never been to school and your mother couldn't read or write when she died. You don't need to learn anything. I don't want to see you near a school! Is that clear?" He saw a book near my bed and threw it across the room. 

I was really afraid and said, " Yes, father. "

I couldn't look at him. He got up and said, " I know Judge Thatcher has your money. It's my money now because I'm your father. " He got up from the bed and left. I knew that he was going to get drunk(喝醉酒的). 

The next morning he was drunk and he went to Judge Thatcher's house. He tried in every way to get my $ 6, 000 but Judge didn't give it to him. Judge Thatcher wasn't afraid of my father and that made me happy.
