A teenage girl couldn't stand her parents' family rules, so she left home.
She wanted to be famous. But she had poor education and several years later she had to ask for food on the street for a living. Now her father has died. Her mother is an old woman. One day, the daughter saw one of the photos. The face was familiar（熟悉）. “Is that my mother?” she moved closer and read the words“I still love you ...” She cried. When she got home, it was early morning. She knocked on the door. The door opened itself. She rushed to her mother's bedroom. Her mother was sleeping. She woke her mother up,“It's me! Your daughter is back home!” The mother and daughter held each other, full of happy tears. The daughter asked, “Why is the door not locked? A thief could get in.” The mother answered softly, “The door has never been locked since you left.”

    A dog got away from his leash（拴狗颈的皮带）one day and went for a walk in the woods. After a time, he met a wolf.

    The dog said to the wolf, "Brother Wolf, you look so thin! How can you be happy when you are so thin? You should come to live with me and my master. I eat much every day and I never worry about food."

    The wolf thought for a moment and replied, "Yes, you are right. Why should I be out here in the wild hunting for small pieces of food when someone else will give it to me? And you are so well fed. Very well, I will come to live with you."

    One day, a farmer was walking along a road with his son Thomas. The father said, "Look! There's a horseshoe. Pick it up arid put it in your bag. "Thomas said." It isn't worth(值得) the trouble. "His father said nothing but he picked it up himself. When they got to a nearby town, they had a rest. There the farmer sold the horseshoe and with the few pennies he bought some cherries(樱桃).

    The father and the son continued their way. The sun was well up in the sky, and there wasn't a house or even a tree where they could have a rest. Thomas felt too thirsty(口渴的) to walk on. At the moment, his lather dropped a cherry on the ground and Thomas picked it up quickly and ate it. After a while, his father dropped another cherry and once again, his son picked it up and put it in his mouth.

    And so they went on. The old farmer dropped the cherries and the son picked them up. When Thomas had caught' up all the cherries, his father said to him," My dear son, if you had bent(弯腰) down in the beginning to pick up that horseshoe, you wouldn't have bent so many times for the cherries.
