National Smile Month is the largest and longest-running oral (口腔的) health campaign (运动) in the UK. National Smile Month will be sharing positive messages and encouraging others to develop and have a healthy mouth between May 13 and June 13, 2024. 

The British are known for their bad teeth because they have too many sweet foods and drinks. It seems that most of them don't often show their feelings. They neither smile nor cry. But this is not true. The British like to smile as much as anyone else. They just don't want to show their bad teeth. 

There are three key messages in helping people develop and have a healthy mouth. They are: 

■ Brush your teeth at night and at least once a day. 

■ Cut down on how much sweet food and drink you have, and how often you have them. 

■ Visit your dentist regularly, as often as they ask you to do. 

With the help of these three messages, people can realize the importance of good teeth and be confident enough to open their mouths to smile. National Smile Month isn't just about education and stressing the importance of a healthy mouth. The key to the success of the campaign is that we have lots of fun doing it! 

A smile might be a small body language, yet it can make a great difference to our state of mind. You can support National Smile Month in so many ways. Hold events to raise awareness (意识) of oral health, or simply post something on social media. By taking part in National Smile Month, you can help to create a healthier and happier world.

19-year-old Peng Huidi is a student of Central South University. For her, taking part in the Chengdu FISU World University Games in 2023 was a life-changing experience.

In fact, Peng's journey to the games began in her early childhood. When she was two, she got hearing problems as a result of a high fever. She became quiet and was afraid of speaking to others. To help Peng, her father took her to the nearest swimming pool. It was there that Peng found her interest and her talent was discovered by a coach. Later, she spent much time training.

Peng wanted to do her best in both swimming and schoolwork, which stressed her out. She once thought about quitting, but she told herself, "If I stop swimming, my future will be completely different from what I've dreamed of." So she kept practicing swimming hard.

The Chengdu FISU World University Games has been a turning point for Peng. After making it through several qualifying rounds (资格赛)，she was called up to the Chinese swimming team for the games. "I remember the first day she joined the team. None of us knew she couldn't hear clearly. We were amazed at not only her performance, but also her sporting spirit," the coach said. "She has overcome (克服）so many difficulties to compete at this level. We should all learn from her."

People often say," Dogs are man's best friend." But cat lovers may not agree. Cats are becoming more popular in China. So, if you want to keep a cat as your pet, here are some things that you should know.

 Cats are great pets if you' re busy. They are great for small homes, because they don't need a lot of space(空间). They are quiet, too. sometimes they meow. Those cute sounds often mean your cat wants food, or it is saying hello.

What do pet cats eat? Those cats usually eat pet food. But in the wild, (野外) cats are carnivores, that means they only eat meat. Cats need more protein than dogs.

When you call your cat's name, it turns its head or does nothing at all. You may think your cat doesn't know its name. In fact, your cat knows its name. But most of the time, it just want to ignore (忽略) you and" be cool".
