Bruno was a boy of eight. His father worked in a cinema and his mother worked in a shop. He lived not far from his school. He always walked there and walked home. On his way to school, he had to pass a playground. It was very wet after it rained. One day, when he got home, his clothes were all wet. His mother became angry and said, "Don't play in the water on your way home from school!"

    On the next day Bruno came home with wet and dirty clothes. His mother became even angrier. "I'll tell your father if you come back wet again," said his mother. "He'll punish(惩罚)you, you know."

    The third day the little boy was dry when he came home.

    "You're a good boy today", his mother said happily. "You didn't play in the water."

    "No," the boy said unhappily. "There were too many older boys in the water when I got there this afternoon. There wasn't any room(空地方)for me at all!"

    A little boy invited his mother to attend his school's first teacher-parent meeting. To the little boy's disappointment, his mother said she would go. This would be the first time that his classmates and teachers met his mother and he was embarrassed by her appearance. There was a serious scar (伤疤) that covered nearly the whole right side of her face. The boy never wanted to talk about why or how she got the scar.

    At the meeting, the people were impressed by the kindness of his mother with the scar, but the little boy was still embarrassed and hid himself from everyone. However, he could hear clearly the conversation between his mother and the teacher.

    "How did you get the scar on your face?" the teacher asked.

    The mother replied, "When my son was a baby, he was in a room that caught on fire.

    Everyone was too afraid to go in because the fire was out of control, but I went in. As I was running towards his bed, I saw a burning wood falling down and I placed myself over him trying to protect him. I was knocked to be unconscious (无知觉的), but luckily, a fireman came in and saved both of us." She touched the burned side of her face. "This scar will be forever, but until today, I have never regretted doing what I did."

    When the little boy heard this, he couldn't help running towards his mother with tears in his eyes. He hugged her and felt his mother was greater than anyone. He held her hand tightly for the rest of the day.

I'd like to share my first experience of being home alone now.

I saw an accident on my way to the college. I {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(wait) for the bus at the bus stop at that moment. When the bus came, I got {#blank#}2{#/blank#} it and sat by the window. After about five {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(minute), the bus stopped to wait for the green light. I looked outside and saw an old man {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(cross) the road. A boy {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(ride) a motorbike very fast and listening to music. It seemed that he didn't see the signal (信号灯). When the boy noticed the old man, he tried to slow down,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} there was no time. He collided (相撞) with the old man very badly and both of them fell down. They looked even {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (bad) than before when people around found them lying in the pool of blood (血泊). Then a woman stopped and called 120. It came {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(quick) and took them to the hospital. The next day I read the newspaper. The old man died {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the boy was saved in time. I have to say that this was {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(terrible) accident I have ever seen in my life. So we must be careful in our lives. 

 Last year in early summer, I was walking up the hill to my house when I saw two birds, each about 60 centimeters tall, standing on the path. They didn't seem to 1 me until I was right in front of them and then they at once moved 2 into the bushes.

I was quite excited by the idea of two birds making a nest in my front yard, although I didn't really expect it 3 wild birds don't usually nest so close.

A few weeks later, the birds4 again. I found them crouching(蜷缩) beside a tree off to the side of the path. As I moved nearer to them,I imagined that they would 5 like they did last time. But 6 they stuck out their heads and made a threatening(威胁的) croaking(呱呱叫) sound. It seemed to warn me not to go any7 .

I didn't know 8 they were croaking at me until a short time later I made an amazing discovery they had 9 small baby birds.

As I moved quietly towards the birds,10 not to make any sudden movements, they started their croaking again. They straightened their necks forward so 11 seemed longer and more threatening. The mother carefully crouched down over the two chicks, and 12 them well in her feathers.

I was watching them with 13 when I suddenly tripped and fell to the ground. The birds took this as a threat and the father raced towards me, spreading his14 to protect the mother and the chicks while making himself appear larger.

I was15 to have surprised them and left quickly. I was amazed by their fearless actions. Their parental natural ability kicked in and made them so brave. It is hard not to respect nature.
