Most of us spend all day at school or work. After a long and busy day, all we want to do is to return to a comfortable home. Smart technology can turn any home into a nicer place to live in.

Smart homes have been around for some time. A company called Pico Electronics invented a type of technology called X10 in 1975. As the curliest smart home technology, it allows household devices (家用设备)，such as lights and alarms, to communicate with each other by using radio waves.

Of course, 5G network connectivity has made smart homes much more complicated (复杂的) than X10. Perhaps the most popular smart home technology is the voice-activated assistant. Users are allowed to communicate with almost any device in their homes simply by speaking a few words. This is especially convenient for children and people with disabilities, as the devices can help them finish tasks that would normally be too difficult.

Common household devices can become "smart as well. For example, smart fridges can create dinner recipes with the vegetables that are being kept inside.

But smart homes are not just about convenience. They are also good for the environment. By regularly checking your energy use and automatically (自动地) turning off lights and other devices that you' re using, smart homes can lower much electricity you use. Using less energy means that we use fewer natural resources (自然资源)，which is good for the environment.

Students do different things on the weekend. Let's see what these four students did last weekend and how they felt. 

Cathy Krause is an emergency dispatcher (紧急调度员) at Rockwood Police Department. She is tired of getting calls from children, most of which are usually jokes. However, a phone call from 5- year- old Jackson McManus who said his father was in trouble was the real deal. 

"I've not had the call like this before, " Krause said as she spoke about the 911 call. Krause was able to calm the boy down, and asked him questions to help police find his location and also gather information about the situation. "I asked him plenty of questions and he was so good, " she said. "He was a little nervous in the beginning, but he did everything I asked him to do. " Krause asked Jackson if his father was awake. Jackson went to check on his father who couldn't give any replies when he called out his name. This led Krause to believe that the man was unconscious (无意识) . 

Jackson told his father's name but she was still unable to locate the address. She then asked the boy where he went to school and told him to look at the garage and see if there were any numbers. "I already had a car look for you, " Krause said as she continued to talk to the child. 

The boy mentioned a street called Groat Street which is between Huron River Drive and Woodruff Road. With these details, she realized that the boy lived at the southern end of the Brownstown Township. She told Jackson to stand outside his house and wave so that police officers would be able to see him. 

Even though Jackson got some of the numbers of his address wrong, police saw him outside his home and the father was quickly taken to a local hospital. He is now in good condition. 

The father had been suffering from low sodium because of the medicine he was taking. He told 7 Action News he had taught Jackson and his daughter Mary how to call 911 when something terrible happened to him. 

 At 6:00 am on any day in December, it is still dark in the village of Yuanbao in Guizhou Province. But Wu Yujie is already playing soccer {#blank#}1{#/blank#} her teammates at the playground. The girls train for about four {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (hour) every day. Xu Zhaowei is the soccer teacher.

 Xu came to the school as a volunteer to help with rural (农村的) education. In 2017, Xu began to teach the students how {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (play) soccer and later he made a soccer team. As a soccer fan, Xu had some {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (base) knowledge about soccer. He spent lots of time learning from videos. He didn't expect the girls to play well. So he was really {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (surprise) when he heard that the girls won the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (one) place among primary schools in a competition. "They have good qualities(品质)— they are stronger and they practice {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (hard) than others." said Xu. As {#blank#}8{#/blank#} excellent soccer teacher, he helped these students get into good schools.

Xu thinks that soccer can help the students get a good education, so he {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (plan) to try his best to help the soccer team. Now, the sport is helping students realize{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (they) dreams such as flying by plane and seeing the sea. In the future, students will get a lot more from playing soccer.
