    This is a yellow notebook. It is for Jenny. 1 is Jenny's favorite color. On the notebook is a2. It is for John. John is always late（迟到）for school, the watch can 3him.  Is that new green schoolbag nice？ It's 4Wang Peng. His schoolbag is too old, so he needs a new one. Oh, that is a black 5for Kate. She can listen to（听）English on it. And that is a blue pen for Bill. He 6his pen.  Mr. Li buys（买） the new one for him. Here is the 7thing. It is an English dictionary for me. I like 8, but it's not easy for me. So 9English teacher buys the dictionary for me. She thinks it can help me learn English well.

As a mother，the Chinese﹣American writer Amy Chua is definitely a tiger. Her book，Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother （虎妈战歌） tells of the strict upbringing she gave her two children. She thinks that being  strict is the only way to d {#blank#}1{#/blank#} a child's potential and to make them strong，i{#blank#}2{#/blank#} and successful. Her kids were not allowed to watch TV or play video games. They were not allowed to "hang out" with other kids after school. They had to be the top students in their classes. And they had to p{#blank#}3{#/blank#} the piano and violin for hours every day. As a result，her kids became successful. She admits this caused a lot of tears and anger but she has few regrets （后悔）. 

Chua says，like her，most A{#blank#}4{#/blank#} mothers are tigers because they believe their children can a{#blank#}5{#/blank#} a lot if they're pushed hard enough. She says American mothers are really cats. They care more about their children's self﹣esteem （自尊）. They don't want to push their kids too hard for fear of hurting their feelings. W{#blank#}6{#/blank#} soft words and understanding，they encourage their children to find their own path. 

So，is a tiger mom better than a pussycat? Perhaps it depends on the differences between Asian and Western cultures. It may also depend on the child himself. Some kids need to be pushed w{#blank#}7{#/blank#} others respond to a gentler hand. 

To growl or to purr? There is no easy answer. 

A lively group of elderly people in Tianijin that are known  {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the "diving(跳水) grandpas" have recently become the hot topic with their interesting performances. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, they said on September 6th that they would give up the diving sport for public safety.

"Diving grandpas" are not {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (profession) divers but just local swimming-lovers. They went swimming in the city's rivers at first, and later they tried diving. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} hobby has lasted for more than thirty years. These seniors have been turning a bridge into a stage. The bridge stands around 6 meters above the surface of the river. Many people believe that {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (watch) these grandpas diving has brought positive energy and joy to them.

However, being influenced by online videos, some inexperienced divers tried to follow the grandpas. Without proper training, they have met with accidents and got themselves {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (bad) hurt. With the increasing {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (popular) of "Tianjin diving grandpas", some so-called Internet celebrities(网红) also came here to get the attention. Instead of going diving {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (they), they encouraged others to dive so that they could make more online videos to earn money. Experts have pointed out that actions should {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (take) to stop such behaviors(行为). And people are not allowed {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (jump) off the bridge without training.

I'm Li Hua. Great changes have happened to me in the past three years.

 What sports do you like doing? Are you in any of your school's teams? If yes, how did you make it?

I did not pass the boys' basketball tryouts (预选赛) in seventh grade. Making the team was very important to me, but my name was not on the list. On the way home, I was both angry and sad."I can't believe I didn't make the team,"I said loudly." How did Alex make the team? He can't catch up with a tortoise(乌龟)! Why is Jimmy a better choice than me? He just stands around moving his arms!"" Adam!" my mom said, cutting me off." Why don't you just stop and think? Maybe you need a little more practice."

 Suddenly(突然地),I knew she was right. It was nobody's fault(错误) but my own. I decided to work hard for the team over the next year. I practiced hard every day and had lessons every week. When summer came, I joined lots of basketball camps. Through camp after camp, my abilities(能力) grew, and I knew I was ready for tryouts in the fall.

 The day finally came. As everyone crowded around the lists, I played it cool and waited for my chance to read the names. I slowly looked down the list. Not only did I make it on the list, but my name was the very first!
