I was 18 years old when Tim and I began to date.1 and quiet. I'd met his parents once before but hadn't ventured to say more than “Hello”. This particular evening we were taking them out to dinner for their anniversary and I wanted to make a good 2on them.

    Tim and his parents had arrived to pick me up. I 3 out of my home as soon as possible. My good impression began with “on time ”. I sat in the backseat 4 watching his father's eyes glancing into the rearview mirror to 5 me.

    They had already decided on their favorite 6 and that was fine with me, the 7 lighting would hide the rising flush(红晕) in my cheeks, and if anyone noticed, I could 8 it on the peppers. With9 table manners I managed to survive halfway through dinner.10 in the midst of conversation I 11 for my iced tea, raised the glass to my 12and very quickly discovered I had picked up the13glass.

Excusing myself, I ran to the restroom. Soon afterwards, Tim's mother arrived. “Everything will be just fine,” she said 18.

    Tim and I eventually got 19. We had a small ceremony afterwards held at the restaurant where this 20 occurred. This time, however, I didn't drink any candles.

    Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time!

    When I was a senior in high school, I 1 knew I wanted to pursue writing as a career.

    Writing had basically 2 me when I was only 7 years old, 3 since that time, I'd been bombarded(轰炸) by guidance counselors and career planners who all 4 me to have " a back-up-plan" in case writing didn't work out.

    I'd never even 5 a different career path, so I was very 6 and worried. After much thought, I decided 7 would be my "back-up-plan", and I signed up for a class through my high school.

    This8that every morning, I would serve as a teacher's helper for my favorite 6th grade teacher, Mr. Ralston. Morning after morning, I showed up in Mr. Ralston's classroom and9 papers for him.

    Sometimes, I even 10 a lesson or two. It was fun, and the students seemed to like me, so I was surprised when it came time for my 11.Mr. Ralston looked me right in the eyes and asked, "Do you really want to teach?"

    "Had I really been that 12?" I thought.

    "Don't misunderstand. You'll do fine in teaching," he continued. "But, is your 13 really in it?"

    "Not really," I14 "I want to write. I want to write new stories and fiction and poetry and so much more... but I've been told it's tough to make it as a writer 15 I thought maybe I would teach and then use my summers 16 to pursue writing."

    As I shared with Mr. Ralston my hopes, dreams and carefully plotted-out back-up plan, he smiled and said, "Why are you preparing to 17 with this back-up plan? If you want to be a writer, go for it! Pursue writing!"

    Mr. Ralston's 18 to follow my dreams was the little nudge(推动) I decided to help me push past my 19 of not making it as a writer and simply "Go for it!"

    That's what an encouraging word will do when spoken in love in 20 season. So, let's try and be like Mr. Ralston and speak that word of encouragement at just the right time and make a difference in someone's life today.

    I was shopping in a supermarket last night when I saw a homeless woman with a trolley(手推车)full of all her things. She was sitting inside to keep1 . I went up to her and tried to give her 2for something to eat. She wouldn't 3 it. I said I wanted to help her4 she said that if enough money was given to her that day and she had money was given to her that day and she had money on her, other homeless people would 5 it from her while she slept.

    I 6 that I wanted to help her and asked if I could buy her something warm.7, she said no. She thanked me and said how 8she was that I had spoken to her and offered 9 . We introduced ourselves and she said that when I saw her the next time, she would 10 accept help.

    I walked out into the cold winter 11 and gave the money to a homeless man who was freezing. I asked him his name,12 I always want to know, and I told him mine. H appeared to have had a drinking or drug problem, but I was 13 that he accepted my help.

    I had this 14 that stayed with me. I felt that I had been in the presence of someone really special earlier. I always 15 what it would be like to be in a homeless person's shoes, I know how16 I am and how grateful I am for what I 17in my life.

    I learned a valuable 18 from the lady I met: Not all 19 people will take money or help if they feel enough has been given to them that day. She was grateful for the day. I will make sure I 20 her again.

    For the past two years I have been travelling and living abroad. I has become more of a feeling than a place.1 feel at home 2 I am with my family in London, but I 3 feel at home in Italy with friends I 4 , or in Spain with my partner. Home is no longer a picture of a 5 with a front door and some windows. It is more 6 than that.

    This is one of the reasons that 7 the New Year has become very important for me. New Year's Eve has become my time to reconnect with the 8 that make me feel at home. The snow trapped Taylor, but taco sauce (卷饼酱) saved his life. It all began last Sunday when Taylor, along with his dog, went to get gas for his 1, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Taylor told the police his car got 2 in the snow. After some time, he then 3   and woke up on Monday finding 4 more snow, unable to get out of the vehicle (车辆). He tried to 5 out on Monday, but the snow was too deep and made it 6 to go on foot so he and his dog 7 to the vehicle.

By Wednesday, a 8 person's announcement was put out for Taylor, according to a report. Over the next few days 9 he was trapped in the snow, Taylor told the police he stayed 10 by "starting his car from time to time. He 11 some of the taco sauce he had as food".

On Friday, a skater called 911 saying they had 12 Taylor. The office soon sent a construction truck to 13 out Taylor and his dog. The officers said they were just "hungry after being stuck in the 14 for five days". Taylor was 15 to who helped him and determined to help others as possible as he could in future.
