Families are getting smaller in Europe and North America, but homes are not. In many {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(国家)，they are getting bigger. Bigger homes are more expensive and heating {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (它们) in cold weather is worse for the environment.

It is {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (相信) that we can think about the size of our homes. Sixteen-year-old Austin Hay is building a home on his parents' drive. Although it's only 2.4 meters {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (宽的) and 3.7 meters long, it has got everything important, including a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (浴室)，a kitchen and a bedroom with a low ceiling.

Austin doesn't do any building during the week because he's busy with schoolwork and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} [ˈpleɪɪŋ] basketball. But on the weekend he usually works hard on his house. "At the moment I'm working on the doors, I can do it e{#blank#}8{#/blank#}, so my dad isn't helping me. He thinks I can solve it. He only h{#blank#}9{#/blank#} with the difficult things."

Austin is sleeping in his little house this summer. And in the future? "University is very expensive in the USA, but for me, it'll be cheaper. I have m{#blank#}10{#/blank#} little house, I will take it with me wherever I go."

Smartphones have become necessary tools in people's lives. We carry them everywhere, take them to bed and to the bathroom. And for many people, after waking up in the morning, what they see first is their smartphones. 

Most worries about phones usually lie in the danger which is caused by using them while driving, or the bad influence they bring to us, such as making us depend on them too much but hardly care about people around us. 

However, have you ever thought about your smartphone may be a factory full of microbes （细菌） and viruses（病毒）. A survey made in 2019 found that most people（57 percent） in the UK use their phones on the toilet. Another study found three in four Americans（74. 5 percent） use their phones on the toilet. We also eat while using our phones and usually put them down on all kinds of dirty surfaces. All of them can transfer microbes onto our phones. And some of the viruses, like the common cold virus, can live on the phone surfaces for almost a week. 

Researchers have shown that people touch their phone hundreds, if not thousands, of times a day. And although many of us often wash our hands after going to the bathroom, cooking, cleaning or gardening, it is almost impossible for us to consider washing our hands after touching our phones. 

As a result, it's not surprising that studies have found our mobile phones are dirtier than toilet seats. Maybe it's time. to think more about keeping mobile phones clean.

The Dragon Boat Festival is on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. It was on 10th June in 2024. How does this festival come about?

Qu Yuan is a great poet of the State of Chu. He loves his country and people very much. And he gives many good ideas to his king. But the king doesn't listen to him. At last, the State of Qin conquers(战胜) Chu. Qu Yuan feels very sad. He jumps into the Miluo River in Hunan on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. The people of Chu also love Qu Yuan very much. From then on, people always show their love for Qu Yuan on that day. 

The dragon boat race is a very important part of the Dragon Boat Festival. Usually, a dragon boat is 20 to 30 metres long. And 20 to 30 people sit on each boat. To win the race, people in different groups row(划) their dragon- like boats as fast as they can. It's very exciting to watch!

People also eat zongzi on that day. Most people buy zongzi from shops but some old people like to make zongzi by themselves. They use bamboo leaves to wrap(包) rice and thread(线) to tie it. They also wrap other food in the leaves. People in different places have different tastes. In the south of China, most people like eating meat zongzi. In the north of China, people often put some sweet food in zongzi. 

Wormwood(艾草) is a kind of plant people use on the Dragon Boat Festival. People say it can help them keep healthy if they use it to clean their bodies. They also think wormwood can stop bad things from going into their houses, so people put wormwood on their doors. 

One in every 121 Americans share the last name"Smith". It is also the most used last name in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, a study finds.

The study also finds that many people in Asia share the same family names. In China,there are about 2,000 family names in use today, but about 50% of all Han Chinese people share the same 19 family names! The most used family name is Wang. One in every 13 people have"Wang"to be the family name. In South Korea, one in five are named"Kim", and inVietnam,25% of people are named"Nguyen".
