I was born in a smalltown in the {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(东部) of China. There were lots of thingsto do when I was young. There were many stores, three movie {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (电影院) and basketball teams in my town. I was very happy there.

Our house was big and {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (舒适的). There was a big living room with a TV, a {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (厨房), a bathroom and three bedrooms. There were some pictures of my {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (最喜爱的) movie stars on my bedroom {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (墙).

In {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (前面) of my house there was a big {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (花园) with lots of trees and there was a small {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (湖) with fish in it. It was great to play {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (在那儿). I love my town very much.

The word "sandwich" is an English word. Sandwich was an English man. He lived in England about two hundred years ago. Sandwich had much 1 . He was very rich (富有的). But he liked playing cards very much. He often played day and night. One day he played for twenty-four hours 2 stopping. He did not leave the card table to 3 . He asked his servant (仆人) to bring him some meat and 4 . So he put some meat between two pieces of bread and then began to eat. It tasted delicious. He did not want to stop playing cards when he ate. From the 5 of this man, Sandwich, we have the word "sandwich" today.

Monday, July 1^st. 

I arrived in Penang in Malaysia this morning with my family. It was sunny and hot, so we decided {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（go）to the beach near our hotel. My sister and I tried paragliding. I felt like I was a bird. It was so {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（excite）! For lunch, we had something very special—Malaysian yellow noodles. They were delicious! In the afternoon, we {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（ride）bicycles to Georgetown. There are a lot of new {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（build）now, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} many of the old buildings are still there. In Weld Quay, a really old place in Georgetown, we saw the houses of the Chinese traders from 100 years ago. I wonder what life was tike here{#blank#}6{#/blank#} the past. I really enjoyed {#blank#}7{#/blank#}（walk）around the town. 

Billy Ray Harris was homeless. He spent each day on the streets of Kansas City, begging for money or food. Every day, as he sat thinking about his life, he occasionally heard the sound of a coin or two coming into his cup. One day, the noise was louder than usual. If Billy had looked up, he'd have seen a young lady on her way to work. But he didn't. Later when he looked into the cup, he could hardly believe what he saw. At the bottom was a shining diamond ring.

Two days later, a young woman came while he was begging. She introduced herself as Sarah Darling and asked if he'd found anything unusual in his cup. Billy reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring. When he saw the smile on her face, he knew he'd made the right decision. She explained when putting the coins into his cup, she'd forgotten putting her ring in her purse.

But the story doesn't end there. Sarah told her husband the story and wanted to post it on the Internet. He thought it was a good idea. They also called on raising money for Billy. They had more than $185,000. Billy Ray Harris no longer spends his days begging. He has a home and a job. The story also made the local news and he was reunited with his two sisters, who he hadn't seen for 16 years. If he hadn't done the right thing, he wouldn't have seen his sisters again.

Lucy: It's great! We have a lot of interesting activities at school. 

Kangkang: Really? What kind of activities do you have?
