My name is Maisie Hall and I have five brothers and sisters! Life in our house is fun, but it's difficult, too.

On school days I get up very early at 6:30 a.m. I have my breakfast first. After breakfast I take a shower and get dressed.

At 8:00 a.m. we go to school by bus. School starts at 8:30 a.m. and we go home at 3:00 p.m. After school I don't watch TV. I clean the house for my mom and play with my brothers and sisters.

We have dinner together at 7:00 p.m. My baby brother goes to bed at 8:00 p.m. and my other brothers and sisters go to bed at 9:00 p.m. Then I can study!

From 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. I do my homework and read a book. After that I brush my teeth and go to bed.

When many people from other countries come to America for the first time, they 1 many difficulties. They can't speak much English and they don't know much about America. Sometimes, they make mistakes and that always makes them2 .

Sally came to America from 3  years ago. Because her English wasn't good, she was afraid to 4  the way in English. So she usually couldn't find 5  in America. She hoped she could see something that she knew well,6 she couldn't. Then she began to cry and 7  her own country because she never had this kind of problem in Korea. She could find places 8  in Korea.

Little Henry came to America from Thailand with 9  parents. He didn't know how to put money into an American bank 10 . When he grew 11  and knew more English, he 12  put money into an American bank successfully.

There are many other 13  about America, and the people from other 14  can't understand those things when they come to America for the first time. They need to 15  more so that they can get used to the life in America quickly.

Liu Zhihua has become a star at a ski resort（滑雪圣地）in Urumqi, Xinjiang. She is the resort's oldest skier（滑雪者）, aged 88. 

Though she is a skilled skier now, she only took up the sport when she was 72. Before that, like many old people, she spent her days taking care of her grandchildren or watching TV. Encouraged by her children, Liu got on the piste（滑雪道）for the first time in 2007. "The first day was not easy. My arms and legs were sore. But in the next few days, I was able to walk on the skis（滑雪板）. When I was not afraid of falling, I became quite interested in the sport and fell in love with it, "Liu said". I've taken part in a competition twice. I didn't do it for a prize. Finishing the competition without falling is enough for me."

For Liu, skiing is also a way to keep her young and active. Although she is the oldest ski lover at the resort, she thinks she is just as vigorous as younger skiers . Liu skis for about two hours at a time under the protection of her trainer. Although she skis less often than before, she makes up her mind to continue as long as possible. "Doing sports brings me health and happiness," she said. "I don't think age has much to do with my mind. Old or young, I'm always brave and cheerful."

I sat on the steps next to Peter and watched him play his new guitar. His left hand worked the strings(弦)1 his right hand played.

" Just in time for the school talent show next   2 ,"I said.

" Are you doing anything for the talent show, Jeremy?" Peter asked.

" No,"I said." If I were a little   3 , like you, 14 years old, maybe I could, too. I believe you' ll win the first prize this year."

" Maybe," said Peter,"I'm playing a song I4 myself."

" You write your own song?"

Tyler was a troublesome student. He sat in the back row. Every time I asked him to answer questions, he'd reply with a flip(轻率的) answer. If he got it wrong, he would get very angry. 

Usually kids could sit quietly in class. However, Tyler was just noisy. One day, Tyler was talking while I was teaching. I said to him, "Tyler, why not join in our discussion instead of having one of your own?" He got up from his chair, pushed it over, and shouted something I can't remember. I sent him to the office and he received a week's out-of-school punishment. 

The week was a wonderful time for me, but when it came to an end, I began to feel worried. So I came up with a plan. On the day of his return, I told him I wanted to start over with him. If he felt like he was going to lose control in class, he could step outside the door for a moment. 

From then on, Tyler was a changed student in my classroom. In fact he was a smart child and he even stopped a fight between two students one day. And he never used the privilege(特权) to leave the class for a moment. I believe that just letting him decide for himself made all the difference. 

When the year was over, he wrote me a thank-you note about how good the year had been for him. I still have it today and find it very moving to reread when I get worried about teaching. 

Jaime Deigh is a teacher at R. E. Baker Elementary School. On March 3，it was the last day of Spirit Week in this school. And all the students must 1 as their favorite superhero （超级英雄）. When Jaime arrived at the 2 ，she was happy to see fun characters （人物） like Wonder Woman and Spider﹣Man. But one student was 3 . It was her student，Caroline Carlson. Caroline wore the same clothes as her. 

"She gave me a big 4 ，" Jaime said， "She was wearing the same clothes just as mine，a T﹣shirt5 ，jeans，and tennis shoes. " It was 6 for the young student to decide who her favorite superhero is. 

"Heroes don't need superpower. They're just trying to make the world a better place，" Carlson says. "Ms. Jaime is a 7 teacher. She doesn't only teach us "teacher stuff"，but also teaches us how to be kind and responsible，and how to be a good person. "

According to Ms. Jaime，this is the first time in her 19 years of 8 that one of her students has honored （尊敬） her in this way. She was so touched that she wanted to walk around the school. She also said that this kind act was telling her not to take her small. "You never know the influence （影响） that your 9 might have on a 10 . " she said.
