Claude Monet brought sunshine into painting. 

He was one of the first artists to work1 .That may sound2 to us today. But before1870, most artists did all their paintings in rooms. They used models dressed up as Greek gods orheroes from history. They painted with dark colors so their pictures would look more3 .

However, Monet and his artist friends4 the rules. They took their paints and brushes to paint lakes, flowers and woods in the open air. They wanted to show5 sunlight made water and boats look at different times during the day. If they painted people, they always painted common people. They used6 colors and painted quickly. 

For years, Monet had7 making money. Sometimes he could not pay the rent (租金) ; sometimes his family had no heat; sometimes they went hungry.8 ,Monet would not give up. 

Today, he is one of the most famous artists ever. Paintings by Monet sell for millions of dollars and9 in museums around the world. We're all lucky that Monet never10 believing in his art. 

Sea turtles(海龟) live in the sea most of the time. The beaches in Florida are home to sea turtles. Female sea turtles come here from the ocean to lay eggs. Then they return to the ocean. However, the number of some of these turtle species(种类) is falling. They are in danger, so people in Florida work together as a community to protect them.

Some volunteers take direct action to help the turtles. They look closely at the sand to find out where the sea turtles lay their eyes. Then they help bury(埋藏) the eggs in order to save them from being destroyed. They are helpful in people who are studying sea turtles.

Florida's government has passed laws to save the turtles. One of these laws is "Florida's Marine Turtle Protection Act". This law prevents anyone from destroying sea turtles' nests or eggs. It helps protect the turtles from dying out.

People also work together to save the turtles through organizations(组织) like the Sea Turtle Conservancy. For example, the bright light from buildings near the beach can influence sea turtles. It may make the baby turtles get lost, leading to many of them do not make it to the ocean and even die. The Sea Turtle Conservancy works with house owners to make the lighting in their buildings sea turtle friendly. They also advise people to turn off their lights at night if they live close to the beach.

In a word, everyone can do his or her part to protect sea turtles and their living places. People in Florida can work as volunteers to clean up the beaches and pick up their own litter. Everyone in the community has the ability to make a difference!

Without classes and exams, the summer vacation is an ideal time for Australian kids. For me, Nancy, it means much more than not going to school. It is also a golden chance to spend time with my family because I have little time with them during the school year.

Last summer vacation I travelled with my family to the Hawkes bury River in Western Sydney. It was one of the most unforgettable summer vacations in my life.

Staying by the river helps us escape from the hot weather and noise of the city. Every day, my family and I got up early to go swimming in the cool water. In the morning, we all took part in a big game. We enjoyed water— skiing, wakeboarding(尾波滑水) and other activities. These activities made our family feel closer.

In the warm afternoon, we peacefully read books on hammocks hung among trees by the river. The days always ended with a campfire. We sat around the fire, talking and laughing.

The river is a perfect place for people to forget about all the stresses(压力) of life and simply enjoy the moment. To me, it is the best place to spend time together with my family. I can't help thinking about those days again and again although so many months has passed.

 Hello, everyone. My name is Tom. It was fine last Saturday. My parents and I were so excited, because we visited the farm in the village. We took a car there in the early morning. After about two hours, we arrived there. Firstly, we took some photos in front of the gate. After that, one of the farmers showed us around the farm. On the farm, there are some crops(庄稼) and vegetables. They grow very well. We picked some fresh vegetables there. They cost(花费) us fifty yuan. At noon, we had lunch in a local restaurant. The food there was very fresh and delicious. In the afternoon, we helped the farmers feed the chickens and milk the cows. We felt they were so interesting.

 We had a good time on the farm. We want to go there again next time.
