Many students think that learning a new language is very difficult. But if your brain (大脑) is only the same size as a bird's, you will know how difficult it is to learn English. That is what some birds can do.

Many birds can copy (模仿) the sounds of language. A type of African parrot is very good at doing this. This kind of parrot has grey feathers and people say they are clever.

Every December in London, the National Cage and Aviary Bird Show tries to find the best "talking" bird in the world. One bird named Prudle stood out (突出) among the " talking birds"  by winning this prize every year from 1965 to 1977. In 1958, somebody took Prudle from his nest in Uganda, and then sold it to a woman named Iris Frost. She then took care of him at her home in Seaford, England. Before he died in 1994, aged 35, Prudle knew almost 800 words in English. Prudle was also the oldest bird in the world that lived in a cage.

Another parrot named Puck was tested in 1993. It turned out that Puck knew even more words than Prudle. Puck knew more than 1,700 English words. In the 2003 Guinness Book of World Records, Puck was listed as knowing more words than any other bird in the world.

"Everybody loves bargain (减价品). " is a famous saying. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} In our daily life, one person's useless or broken object may be another person's bargain. That is why Americans don't throw things away. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} And they put up a "For Sale" sign to have a yard sale. 

Over the years, many people's houses have been filled useless objects. It seems wasteful to throw them away. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} The sellers put an ad (广告) in a newspaper first. It tells others when and where the yard sale will take place. Early in the morning, people take their things out of the house. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

Anything can be sold at a yard sale, such as old toys, tools, books, tables and chairs. Some people go to yard sales to find a special thing. However, some people don't sell their old things. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Later, they may hold their own yard sales to sell all the things they have bought. 

Twenty percent of all the water that goes into oceans around the world comes from one river — the Amazon.

The Amazon River goes through the world's largest{#blank#}4{#/blank#}forest.The Amazon rain forest is home to the largest{#blank#}5{#/blank#}of plants and animal species(物种) on Earth.There are 2.5 million kinds of insects,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} the world's largest ant.At least 3，000 kinds of fish and one­fifth of all the bird species in the world{#blank#}7{#/blank#}there.Some of the Amazon's animals are{#blank#}8{#/blank#}， such as the anaconda(水蟒), so people should be careful.There are also gentle animals, like the sloth(树懒){#blank#}9{#/blank#} the pink dolphin.

The Amazon is very important to Earth.There are still many kinds of animals and plants there that we don't know about.If we lose the Amazon, we will{#blank#}10{#/blank#}a big part of life on Earth.

Friends are a part of our lives. In my life，I have a best friend named Lucy. She means a lot to me. My life would be less colorful without her. Although we sometimes argue，we still treat each other as best friends. 

We met each other four years ago. She said hello to me with a sweet smile. I guessed that she was a gentle girl. And she really was. When I was in trouble，she always stood by me and made me feel better. 

This winter holiday，we went to the amusement park Happy Valley together. We had fun together on the roller coaster （过山车）. We held each other's hands and shouted loudly when we were riding the roller coaster. It was so exciting. The ride made me feel a little sick, so she bought a bottle of water for me. This experience left me with a lot of good memories（回忆） and made our friendship stronger.

There is a line in the movie Soulmate that says， "If you step on someone's shadow，you will never leave each other. " So I will try my best to "step on her shadow". Many adults think that children can't be friends forever. But I don't believe this. 

Maybe we won't always spend all of our time together. But I will enjoy the time I spend with her and the good memories she has given me. 

In our school, there are many clubs.  We have an English club, a music club, an art club, a tennis club and some other clubs. 

The 1 club is a popular (受欢迎的) one.  And I am in the club because tennis is my favourite 2 .  I want to be a player like Li Na.  Who is Li Na? Let me tell you.  She is my favourite tennis player. 

There are 30 3 in the tennis club.  About 50% are boys.  We have one tennis match (比赛) every week.  I love tennis matches because every match is interesting and 4 .  When I have time, I often 5 tennis matches on TV.  That always makes me happy. 

Zhang Kai is also in the tennis club.  He is tall and he looks very strong.  He is 6 playing tennis.  His father is a professional (职业的) tennis player and he often 7 Zhang Kai to play tennis. 

Yang Le is short, but he plays tennis very 8 .  He is also good at 9 .  He also wants to 10 the swimming club.  He wants to be a good swimmer.
