Dumplings are a kind of traditional Chinese food. And dumplings are also"lucky(幸运的)"food because they look like "yuanbao". We often put a coin(硬币) in a dumpling. If you eat a dumpling with it, you will be lucky. Let me show you how to make dumplings.

Dumplings have different fillings. Some have meat and vegetables in them. Some have eggs and other fillings in them. Today we make some dump-lings. I like dumplings with vegetables and eggs best. How about you?

I have always heard that walking under a ladder brings bad luck, but I have never thought so. I have walked under ladders many times, but I have never met anything bad before. It's the same with black cats. People say if a black cat crosses before you, it means bad luck. I have never thought that until this afternoon. But ever since I heard my student Sam's story, I have begun thinking about whether it was true.

This afternoon, Sam was walking down the street thinking about something, so he wasn't paying attention to where he was going; he walked right under a ladder standing against a building. A black cat ran out of a door just at that moment, and Sam fell over it. His head hit the ladder. A man washing the window was at the top of that ladder and the dirty water went down through the air. Poor Sam! He got wet all over.

A stupid farmer

In a faraway village, a farmer used to help a businessman without asking for anything in return. The businessman wanted to thank the farmer, so he gave him a big healthy goat.

The man carried the goat on his shoulders（肩膀）and starts walking back home. Three naughty boys saw him and wanted to trick（捉弄） him.

The first boy came to him and asked，"Why are you carrying a dog on your shoulders？" The man got angry and told the boy that it was a goat and not a dog.

As he kept walking, the second boy passed by and asked why he was carrying a dead calf（小牛） on his shoulders. The farmer answered angrily, "You fool! Can't you see this is a goat?" However, the second boy's question made the farmer feel worried and afraid.

After walking for some more distance, the third boy came towards the farmer, and asked with full curiosity（好奇心）, "Why are you carrying a donkey on your shoulders?"

Finally，the worried farmer got very afraid，thinking the goat was really a monster（怪物）.

The three boys took the goat away，laughed at the man and said， "What a foolish man he is!"

In Mexico(墨西哥), the birthday is a very special day. Children can have lots of fun. On the birthday, there's a big colourful Pinata Party(皮纳塔派对). There's a toy called " pinata". It is made of(由······制成) paper. It's a big candy box with some gifts inside(在里面). You can hit(击打) it until it opens up. And then children can see the candies and gifts.
