It used to be that people would drink coffee or tea in the morning to pick them up and get them going for the day. Then cola drinks hit the market. With lots of caffeine and sugar, these drinks soon became the pick-me-up of choice for many adults and teenagers. Now drink companies are putting out so-called "energy drinks." These drinks have the specific aim of giving tired customers more energy.

One example of a popular energy drink is Red Bull. The company that puts out this drink has reported that Red Bull is not a thirst quencher (解渴饮料). Instead, the drink is meant to revitalize(使恢复生机) a tired customer's body and mind. In order to do this, the makers of Red Bull, and other energy drinks, typically add vitamins and certain chemicals to their drinks. The added chemicals are like chemicals that the body naturally produces for energy. The vitamins, chemicals, caffeine, and sugar found in these drinks all seem to give a person energy.

Health experts are not so sure, though. For one thing, there is not enough evidence(证据) to show that all of the vitamins added to energy drinks actually raise a person's energy level. Another problem is that there are so many things in the drinks. Nobody knows for sure how all of the ingredients in energy drinks work together.

Dr. Brent Bauer cautions (告诚) people about believing all the claims (申明) energy drinks make. He says, "It may be true if you put these twelve things together, you will get a good result." However Dr. Bauer adds the mix of ingredients could also have a negative impact (负面影响) on the body "We just don't know at this point," he says.

Tea is enjoyed differently around the world, from how it's made and drunk to where it's enjoyed. According to the ways of making tea, tea is divided into white tea, black tea, green tea, etc. In Tibet, people often boil tea with salt and butter. Tea is drunk at home or in public places like tea houses.

Tea is a part of culture and connects to history, health, education, and communication. It's often included in social activities, like the British tradition of afternoon tea. Families or friends can communicate with each other while having afternoon tea.

Chinese people also use tea to make tasty dishes. Originally used as a medicine in ancient times, it is now not just a kind of drink, but also great seasonings（调味品）. Some delicious dishes made with tea are tea eggs and Dragon Well Tea Shrimp（虾）.

Before drinking tea, remember these tips:

• Drink tea while it's hot.

• The best time to drink is in between meals. It is bad for your stomach if you drink tea just before meals, during meals or soon after meals.

• Don't drink too much strong tea.

How to Become Fit?

Healthy eating habit along with regular exercise is the only way to become fit. If you have the correct number of calories and exercise regularly, you will lose weight, keep fit, and feel great, too.

During your teenage years, it is important to give your body the energy it needs. If you skip (跳过) meals, you won't get enough calories, and then you will feel tired. By the way, calorie is just another word for energy. About 50% of your calories should come from rice, bread, vegetables and fruit. You also need to drink a lot of water, 6 to 8 glasses a day. Water helps keep your system clean. Drinking enough water will make your skin better and make you healthy.

Exercise is something that can help to make you look good, feel good and be healthy. Experts suggest that teenagers spend at least 30 minutes exercising, five times a week. That is easy to do! You can walk or ride your bike to school, and do sports at school. However, teenagers often give up sports, saying they have no time left after their studies. In fact, doing exercise can help them sleep better at night and increase their ability to focus on their study.

If you follow the suggestions above, you will look and feel much better and become fit.

Nowadays plenty of kids are at home alone after school. Are you one of them? Kids who regularly take care of themselves are called"latchkey kids". 

This name got its start in the 1940s. Many men fought in the World War I I and women had to take jobs in factories to keep the country going. With both parents away, lots of kids went home to empty houses after school. Latchkey kids wore house keys around their necks and they used the keys to open doors. 

Today, it's common for both parents to work. As a result, a new generation of kids is spending some time alone after school. It becomes necessary for both parents and kids to make some rules. There are a lot of questions to talk about:

Should you call your mum or dad as soon as you get home?

Should you do your homework first?

Can you watch TV or play computer games? If so, for how long?

What can you eat if you want a snack?

Can friends come over? If so, how many?

As latchkey kids, knowing how to stay safe is just as important as following the family rules. Talk about the following questions with your parents:

What should you do when the phone rings?

What should you do if someone knocks at the door?

What should you do if someone breaks into the house?

You may feel bored when you are at home alone. Don't worry. Keeping yourself busy is helpful. There are many things which can make you feel your home alone time go quickly:

Read a magazine. 

Write an email. 

Phone a friend.

A park, a bus stop, and a coffee shop... These are the favorite places for {#blank#}1{#/blank#} children to   hang out (闲逛). US students have short school days, and their parents often work for long  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . So they have a lot of free time to hang out. Sometimes, they sit on the grass in the park and talk with each other. Sometimes, they just watch people {#blank#}3{#/blank#} from the streets and do nothing.

 Is that a waste(浪费) of time? Maybe it is. I wasted a lot of time when I was a child! But it was fun. It {#blank#}4{#/blank#} me with my observation skills(观察力). Also I always want to learn something new.

 Now, I exercise a lot in my free time. I am also learning {#blank#}5{#/blank#} things, drawing and IT. These hobbies make me an interesting person.

 Basketball is an active and much-loved sport that is enjoyed by many people for fun and exercise. So far, the" Village Basketball Association" at Taipan Village in Guizhou has got tons of attention. The final game of the Guizhou country basketball league(联赛), known as" Village BA" took place on March 27. The winner was Team Qiandongnan and they got bags of rice, fish and ducks as the prizes. Most of the players are farmers from local villages and nearby cities. More than 30,000 people from across the country come to the small village to watch the game. People knocked on pots and bowls to cheer for players. Villagers sang folk songs and danced in the halftime show.

 Taipan has now been a model place of rural vitalization(乡村振兴) in sports and tourism (旅游业). In the summer of 2022, about 500,000 visitors came here to watch" Village BA" game. Zeng Jinlong, a 17-year-old villager, has watched the games for the first time when he was 6 years old. He said, "I dream of taking part in the' Village BA' final one day."
