NO matter what happens,I'll always be there for you!

    In 1989, an8.2earthquake almost destroyed America, killing over 30,000 people in less thanfour minutes. In the midst of utter devastation and chaos, a father left hiswife safely at home and rushed to the school where his son was supposed to be,only to discover that the building was as flat as a pancake.

    After the unforgettablyscare, he remembered the promise he had made to his son: "No matter what,I'll always be there for you!" And tears began to fill his eyes. As helooked at the badly damaged building that once was the school, it lookedhopeless, but he kept remembering his promise to his son

    He began to direct hisattention to where he walked his son to class at school each morning.Remembering his son's classroom would be in the back right comer of thebuilding, he rushed there and started digging through the ruins, As he wasdigging, other helpless parents tried to pull him off what was left of theschool, saying," It's too late! They're all dead! You can't help! Co home!Come on! Face reality. Here's nothing you can do!

    To each parent hereplied with one line, "Are you going to help me now?" And then hecontinued to dig for his son, stone by stone. The firefighter leader showed upand tried to pull him off the school's ruins saying, "Fires are breakingout. Explosions are happening everywhere. You are in danger. We'll take care ofit. Go home." To which this loving, caring American father asked,"Are you going to help me now?" The police came and said, "You'reangry, worried and it's over. You're making others in danger. Go home. We'llhandle it!" To which he replied, "Are you going to help me now?"No one replied.

    He went on alone becausehe needed to know for himself "is my boy alive or is he dead?" He dugfor eight hours … 12 hours ... 24 hours … 36 hours … then, in the 38th hour, hepulled back a large stone and heard his son's voice. He screamed his son'sname, "Armand!" He heard back, "Dad? It's me, Dad! I told theother kids not to worry. I told them that if you were alive, you would save meand when you saved me, they'd be saved. You promised, no matter what happens,you'll always be there for me. You did it, Dad!" "What's going on inthere? How is it?" the father asked, "There are 14 of us left out of33, Dad. We're scared, hungry, thirsty and thankful you're here. When thebuilding fell down, it made a triangle, and it saved us."

    "Come out,boy!" "No, Dad! Let the other kids out first because I know you'llget me! No matter what happens, I know you'll always be there for me!"

Louis's Dream Came True

Louis is a thirteen-year-old boy. Writing is one of his {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(业余爱好) and he is good at it.

Once his school {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(派遣去) him to enter an international writing competition. He made up an interesting story about a {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(塔). To his surprise, he won first {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(奖项) and he got the chance to travel in Europe for free. It had been his {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(梦寐以求的) journey. But he couldn't{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(付得起) that because his family didn't have much money. Before the journey he {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (数)down the days every day. How excited he was!

Then he travelled to England, {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(德国), France, Greece and Italy. He visited many {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(古老的;古代的) buildings and talked a lot with local people. In this way, Louis learnt a lot and now he still {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(想念) everything there.

Cassandra Naud was born with a brown birthmark(胎记) under her right eye. It covers a large part of her face. Her parents were given a chance to remove the birthmark right after her birth. But they were worried that it might be dangerous for her, so they refused it. 

Cassandra experienced a hard childhood in primary school. Her schoolmates often laughed at her. She was heartbroken with what they said and had to cry in corners. She was even afraid of how she would be treated when she went to high school. 

At the age of 13 she took an important decision to have her birthmark removed. Her parents were surprised at that but they respected her decision. They immediately invited a great doctor to operate on her. But the doctor said that she might face the risk of being left with a lazy eye(弱视). So she finally decided to keep her birthmark. 

Cassandra dreamed of being an excellent dancer. She realised that the birthmark would make her more memorable and popular among the dancers. From then on, she began to love her birthmark, instead of trying to hide it, and she also learnt to face the world with bright smiles.

How I've Changed!

My life has changed a lot in the last few years.

A park, a bus stop, and a coffee shop... These are the favorite places for {#blank#}1{#/blank#} children to   hang out (闲逛). US students have short school days, and their parents often work for long  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . So they have a lot of free time to hang out. Sometimes, they sit on the grass in the park and talk with each other. Sometimes, they just watch people {#blank#}3{#/blank#} from the streets and do nothing.

 Is that a waste(浪费) of time? Maybe it is. I wasted a lot of time when I was a child! But it was fun. It {#blank#}4{#/blank#} me with my observation skills(观察力). Also I always want to learn something new.

 Now, I exercise a lot in my free time. I am also learning {#blank#}5{#/blank#} things, drawing and IT. These hobbies make me an interesting person.
