How can I improve my English? My students have been asking this question. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the answer won't be proper for everyone, I'm still going to tell you some of my experience. I hope it will help improve {#blank#}2{#/blank#} English learning skills.

One thing is that, once you start learning, you should try to think in English as much as possible. If you see {#blank#}3{#/blank#} when you're walking down the street, just think about "How can I say it in English?" At first, you may think with simple words but later with {#blank#}4{#/blank#} sentences. Now I'm in America, and most of the time, I think in English and speak it directly. It's amazing how much this helps.

When I started learning English, I was often afraid of {#blank#}5{#/blank#} with others in English because I didn't want to make mistakes. Finally, I had a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} to get it over. In America, I tried to {#blank#}7{#/blank#} out with American friends, so that I'd have to speak English. Also, I decided if I said anything {#blank#}8{#/blank#} and other people laughed at me, just let it be. After that, my English started to improve more {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. Besides, it may be a good idea to ask your foreign {#blank#}10{#/blank#} to look at the way you're writing. They can give you some advice for improvement.

Art has always been my favorite {#blank#}1{#/blank#} because it allows me to do my favorite bobby. I still remember when I was young, I would always paint on books, pieces of paper and walls. But now in school, there are only four art lessons {#blank#}2{#/blank#} week. I notice that every lesson seems to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} quickly because I lose myself in my artwork. Drawing takes me to a wonderful world.

I love drawing so much that whenever I have time between classes, I find myself drawing something. I have spent so much time {#blank#}4{#/blank#} my skills that even my classmates are often surprised. But I never talk with too much pride about my {#blank#}5{#/blank#} and I am always thankful for their praise. 

I especially enjoy drawing cartoons because I can just shut off my {#blank#}6{#/blank#} and let my creativity run {#blank#}7{#/blank#} like a horse. Once in a while, I draw things that even surprise myself. Some are pretty, while others are {#blank#}8{#/blank#} that should not be seen by the teachers. They are only for my classmates. 

So, I must say that I always feel {#blank#}9{#/blank#} when I am drawing something enjoyable. For me, drawing is a natural way to {#blank#}10{#/blank#} myself. It allows me to follow my instincts (直觉) easily and lets my feelings guide my hand. 

During the Mid-Autumn Festival, do you eat mooncakes? Do you know that the history of mooncakes is related to two wars?

In the Tang Dynasty, there was an emperor (皇帝) named Li Shimin. Once, his army won a war and returned {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the Mid-Autumn Day. While Li was celebrating with his army, a Tibetan trader (吐蕃商人) gave him some round{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (cake) as a gift. Li was happy and{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (send) these cakes to his soldiers. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} that, these round cakes became popular. Many people ate {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(they) during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Later, the cakes were named as "mooncakes". 

Zhu Yuanzhang was the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty. He ended the Yuan Dynasty through an uprising (起义). When he organized the uprising, it was difficult to send messages {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(secret). One of his friends came up with{#blank#}7{#/blank#}idea. He gave mooncakes with a note hidden inside of them to other people. The note read, "Uprising on the fifteenth night of the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(eight) lunar (农历的) month." After the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (success) uprising, Zhu gave mooncakes as gifts to his people. Since then, it {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (be) a custom to eat mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
