The Elmore Bank had just put in a new safe and vault (金库). Mr. Adams was very {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (pride) of it. He gladly explained its workings to everyone. Ralph Spencer listened {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (polite), but did not seem very interested. The two children, May and Agatha, were very{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (excite) to see these shining things. 

At this time, Ben Price, a policeman from Little Rock, walked inside the bank hall. He told the clerk that he was just waiting for a man he {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (know). 

Suddenly there was a scream (尖叫). May locked Agatha in the vault. The old banker cried, "Oh, the door can't {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (open). And the clock I hadn't started yet." During the following silence they could just hear the girl wildly{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (shout) in the dark vault. "Only one man in Little Rock can open this door," said Mr. Adams. "Ralph, the child can't stand it long in there. There isn't enough air, and besides, she {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (die) of fear. What shall we do?"

Ralph threw off his coat and pulled up his shirt sleeves. With that act Ralph Spencer disappeared and Jimmy Valentine took {#blank#}8{#/blank#} ( he) place. "Get away from the door, all of you," he said. Then he set his suitcase on the floor and laid out all the tools. In ten minutes, breaking his own burglarious (入室盗窃的) record, he opened the door. 

Jimmy put on his coat and walked towards the front door. A big man stood in his way. "Hello, Ben!" said Jimmy, with a strange smile. "Well, let's {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (go)." And then Ben Price acted rather strangely. "Guess you're mistaken, sir," he said. "I don't think we've met each other before. Your carriage {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (wait) for you, isn't it?"

Museums are active centers of learning. In a science museum, people can learn about nature and technology as well as physics and chemistry. Visiting museums is a good choice to spend a holiday for people of all ages. But there're some rules when visiting museums. Take an art museum, for example.

Keep quiet. You can talk, but keep the voice down and be polite to those around you. You should turn off your phone or put it on silent. Sounds from your phone may disturb (打扰) others. If a call must be made, you should go outside to make it. 

Ask before taking photos. Some museums welcome visitors to photograph or videotape works of art. However, please be careful with the sign "no photography" which means taking photos is not allowed for that work or exhibition. If you take photos without permission, you will be in trouble. Maybe you will be punished. 

Do not touch works of art! Your touch may not seem like much, but even the slightest (最轻的) touch can damage the surface of a painting, discolor stone, and even rust metal. Keep a safe distance between you and each work of art. This helps to avoid accidental touching.

Never bring food or drinks into the museum. It's no good eating or drinking there. The art in the museum will provide plenty of food for thought as well as a dinner for the eyes!

Running and pushing are not allowed in the museum. Proper museum behavior is necessary to avoid accidentally hitting or damaging works of art.

Remember: ____. If you obey them, you will surely enjoy yourself in the museum.

Whether we're young or old，rich or poor，we have one thing in common：The moon always looks down at each of us when it lights up the night sky. 

Just like a mirror，the moon reflects the sun's light. It can also reflect people's feelings. This is probably why the moon is always popular among Western and Chinese music，poems and other forms of literature. So when we look at the moon，what exactly do we see looking back at us?

Well，that depends on who's looking. 

The ancient Greek poet(古希腊诗人) Sappho，for example，saw the moon as a woman who lit up space with her beauty. 

Later in England，however，the moon's image(形象) was completely different. In the Middle Ages，English people often drank to get away from difficult life. In their eyes，the moon was a man who liked drinking. In London，at least three pubs(酒馆) were named Man in the Moon. It's probably because the bright moon at night looks like a man's red face after drinking. A popular song sung in the pubs at that time even went，"Our man in the moon drinks wine…"

__▲__ Chinese Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai's Quiet Night Thought reads，"I look up to the mountain moon，and then I look down and think of home. " Similarly，Zhang Jiuling wrote in another poem，"Looking at the moon and thinking of one far away. " So in Chinese culture，when people look at the moon，they may miss their hometown and someone. Very interesting，right?

 This morning was not going well. Aftertwo hours' hard work, I was already falling behind. Sitting on the examination table was my next 1 , a girl of five-year-old in a pretty pink dress. Her right hand was in a bowl of cleansing water with medicine,2 her large brown eyes had tears in them.

 Standing beside her was a tall man. He turned to his daughter andbegan moving 3 hands, seeming to communicate the words that he was whispering(低语) softly. "It' s all right. The doctor is here." I realised that he was communicating through4 .

"My daughter Sara is deaf," the father told me. The child had lost her hearing when she was six months old. I felt sadness. On the outside, Sara5 any other little girl. Yet, her world was now 6 .

"We were on the way to Sara' s dance class when she fell."

"Dance class?" I asked,7 .

"Oh, yes!" the father laughed. "Sara dances to the music. She can8 the music because music has vibrations(振动). You can feel them 9 you sit on a wooden floor listening to loud music."

I pointed to Sara' s hand. She held out her injured hand for me. There were some cuts, but10 serious.

"It's okay," I said. I told her carefully and slowly that I would clean and cover the cuts. Sara11 her head. She understood.

 As I gently cleaned her hand, I listened to the sounds 12 me. These were sounds that I had heard a thousand times but had 13 taken for granted(认为理所当然的). A door suddenly closed with a loud noise in the next room. It gave me a fright, but Sara continued to look 14 at her hand and at me.

 By the time I had cleaned and covered her hands, Sara' s eyes were no longer teary but seemed to shine. Then she placed the tips of her right fingers against her mouth and flicked them forward." That means15 ," Sara's father said.

"You' re welcome!" I replied. Thank you, Sara. I thought as I watched her leave. It was going to be a good day after all.

There is some good news for the students at Yangguang Middle School. Our school  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(ask) students about their hobbies last week. And based on these results(基于这些结果), we have set up four interest groups. 

The first one is a collecting group. Most of the students like collecting things. For example, some students are interested in collecting {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(fan). Some students enjoy collecting money from different countries, like US {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(dollar). In this group, students can collect different things they like, and they can hold some activities to show their collections. 

Sports group is {#blank#}4{#/blank#} second. Many students like doing sports. That's {#blank#}5{#/blank#} it can help them stay fit. Students can play many ball games in this group. And they can also learn how{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(swim) and take part in some sports competitions. 

The cooking group is also interesting. Some students enjoy cooking, and they think cooking {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(bring) them joy. Some students want to make some dishes {#blank#}8{#/blank#} presents for their family. In this group, students can learn to cook different kinds of dishes, including(包括) cookies, noodles and soups. 

The last one is the reading group. Some students like reading books. They think reading gives them many {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(value) things and makes them improve a lot. Students can read any book{#blank#}10{#/blank#} their student cards in this group. 

These are four interest groups. We also plan to set up more groups in the future.
