人教版英语八年级上册Unit 1 Where did you go on vacation_Section B 课时练

 根据短文内容,回答下列问题。

Do you know Yunnan? I visited it during the last summer holiday with my parents. Now let me tell you something about the beautiful place.

Yunnan is in the southwest of China. It took us about eight days to travel around Yunnan. First, we visited Kunming. Kunming is the capital of Yunnan Province (省). In Kunming, Stone Forest(石林)is very famous. I enjoyed it a lot and did not think of leaving.

Then, we went to Dali. Dali is about 300 kilometers away from Kunming. Its pleasant weather made us feel comfortable. Dali has a very long history. It is famous for Erhai Lake. The water in the lake is very clean.

Finally, we took a bus to Lijiang. It is not far from Dali. There are many other places of interest to visit in Yunnan. We enjoyed ourselves there. We also enjoyed Yunnan rice noodles. They were really delicious and famous. I think if you want to visit Yunnan, you can go there any time in a year, because it has suitable (适 宜的) temperature all year round.

(1)、When did the writer visit Yunnan?
(2)、Where is Yunnan?
(3)、How far is it from Dali to Kunming?
(4)、What is Dali famous for?
(5)、Why can you go to Yunnan any time in a year?

I thought I would be able to escape problems and pressures of daily life. But, just 24 hours after arriving there, my wife and I 3 problems with the restaurant and security.

We were ready to return to our room when we saw two policemen 4  closely at the building outside. One of them showed us how 5 in through the windows into our room. It seems that the hotel has no locks on the windows. 6 we were a little worried, our concerns were forgotten 7 when we saw a good-sized bed, a flat-screen TV, a spa bath which more suggested a comfortable stay.

Things started to go from bad to worse the following morning when I found the restaurant only served low-fat meals: six days of rabbit food and only 8 meat and fruit. What had I let myself in for? Nobody had told us what the food 9 like before we booked. I ordered my breakfast 10 my will anyway, but I had waited forty-five minutes for it to arrive. This was not the service 11 I had expected.

That afternoon, when we returned from a tour around 12 university nearby, we found that nearly £200 13 from our room. The Haven refused to pay back the money. They claimed that they 14 not be responsible for any loss if our window was not locked.

My holiday was then a total failure. I thought a "haven" was sure to be a quiet and peaceful place. But in fact, I have experienced 15 stress and worry in that one day than I usually do working in the office for a week.

Friends are part of our lives. In my life, I have a best friend who means a lot to me. My life would be less colorful without her. Although we always have arguments, we still treat each other as best friend.

We met each other four years ago. She said hello to me with a sweet smile. I guessed that she was a gentle (温和的) girl. And she really was. She often took good care of me. When I was in trouble, she always stood by me and made me feel better.

This winter holiday, we went to the amusement park (游乐园) Happy Valley together. We had a great time together on the roller coaster (过山车). We held each other's hands and shouted in a loud voice when we were riding the roller coaster. We were so excited. The ride made me feel a little sick, so she bought a bottle of water for me. This experience left me with a lot of good memories and made our friendship stronger.

Many adults think that children can't be friends forever. But I don't think so. Maybe we can't always spend all of our time together. But I will enjoy the time I spend with her and the good memories she has given me.

Complete the summary of the passage above with only one word for each blank.

The Picture of Peace

When Mike was seven, he knew his dream was to be a photographer. He kept working on it for years. Recently, he was trying to take a picture of a sunset(日落) to enter the school1 competition.

"Mom,it has been cloudy these days. I don't think I can get this picture!" Mike complained.

"Why not use one of your photos on the computer?" suggested Mom.

"I can't-the rules say the photos have to be taken with a traditional camera. We hand in a roll of film, it gets developed(冲洗胶卷), and we2 one photo for the competition. "

"Why is a sunset so important?" Mom asked.

"The3 of the competition is peace," Mike explained, "and I feel most peaceful seeing a sunset. "

Zach, his six-year-old brother came out of the bedroom. " Hey, you want to take a picture of me? Look!" He put both arms over his head.

"Not right now, " said Mike, laughing.

That very afternoon, Mike felt excited when he saw clear skies. He carefully lined up his shot(镜头) and waited4 till the sun reached the ground.

"That's it! Perfect!" he shouted cheerfully.

The next morning, Mike noticed he could take one more picture to complete the roll of film, so he walked into Zach's room. Zach was 5 quietly with a teddy bear under his arm. Mike didn't wake Zach up, and carefully took a picture of him.

A week later, Mike got the photos. The sunset picture was the one he was most6 to see. There it was! It was as nearly perfect as Mike had expected.

Then, he looked through the other photos. Suddenly,he stopped. His eyebrows(眉毛) rose as he 7 the photo of Zach. He looked back at the photo of the sunset,which seemed less perfect now. He 8 the two choices. Finally, he decided to hand in the photo of Zach for the competition.
