    My father is an engineer. Although he is in Africa most time of the year and there isn't much time for him to be with the family, but we are all proud in him. He builds railways there. It's important part of the great Belt and Road project. At first people there found the Chinese and their work strangely. My father often saw people running after trains out of curious. People there even didn't understand that the Chinese people work very hard. Now, however, the African people have seen the benefits bringing by the railways and they are willing to make friends with the Chinese here. My father had already made some African friends and one of them is planning to come to visit us. We are looking forward to show our African guest around our city.

    How are things going with you? It's been six month since you studied abroad in England.

    It is the first time that you had been abroad. Without doubt, it is hard to fit in the life in a foreign country. Have you got accustom to living there? And how about the food? As an exchange student, have you overcome all the difficulties you have learn English? Can you understand that the teachers say in class and communicate free with your classmates now? You are such smart that you must have made a rapid progress in your studies. Everything is OK with me. I often recall the happy days that we stayed together.

    Listening, speaking, reading and writing are importance to our study. Of the four skills, I think listening is the harder. I like watching English films but I have trouble understanding the way in that native speakers speak.

    I am not happy with this situation, but last week I have a talk with my friend Wang Ting. She told me some good ways of improve listening. She suggested using my iPad to listen English songs and learn English expression. Besides, she said watching the news and interviews on CCTV9 were also helpful.

    I will do as her advised. I'm sure I will gradual make progress.
