Rob Frenette had problems with bullies(欺辱) at school for eleven years. He was often lonely and scared. When he was fifteen, however, he decided to do something about his problems. He walked into a newspaper office and told them about the bullying. His story went into the newspaper and soon all the TV stations in Canada wanted to talk to him about his experiences. They also wanted to hear his ideas to stop bullying.

After that, Rob continued his studies at school, but in his free time he helped other people with bullying problems. With a friend Katie Neu, he made a website called www. bullyingcanada. ca. Visitors to the website can find advice, stories and poems about bullying, in both English and French. When people are upset, they can talk on the phone or online to Rob and his team. Every weekend Rob has to answer e-mails to the website. He also speaks to children, teachers and members of government around the country about bullying.

Rob's most important message is: “When bullies are unkind to you, it isn't your fault (过错、责任). There's nothing wrong with you, so you should try to keep trusting yourself. And remember that people care about your problems. You just have to find those people.”

One of Rob's ideas is “Blue Day”, a special day for stopping bullying in schools. Students have to wear blue clothes and in class they learn how to stop bullying. More than 150 Canadian schools now celebrate Blue Day, but Rob won't stop until there's a Blue Day in every school in Canada.

Do you know any 9-year-olds who have started their own museums? When Theodore Roosevelt was only nine, he and two of his cousins opened the "Roosevelt Museum of Natural History". The museum was in Theodore's bedroom. It had a total of 12 specimens. On display were a few seashells, some dead insects, and some birds' nests. Young Roosevelt took great pride in his small museum.

Born in New York in 1858, Theodore Roosevelt was not always healthy. "I was a sickly boy", he once wrote. Roosevelt had a health condition called asthma. He often found it hard to breathe. Instead of playing, he watched nature and then read and wrote about it.

Roosevelt's interest in nature sometimes got him into trouble. Once, his mother found several dead mice in the icebox. She demanded that the mice be thrown out. This was indeed "a loss to science", Roosevelt said later.

Because Roosevelt was often sickly as a boy, his body was small and weak. When he was about 12, his father asked him to improve his body. Roosevelt began working out in a gym. He didn't become strong quickly. But he did decide to face life's challenges with a strong will. That determination stayed with Roosevelt his whole life. And eventually his body did get strong. As an adult, he was an active and healthy person. He enjoyed adventures, and he loved the outdoors.

A toy company named the teddy bear for Theodore "Teddy". After knowing that, Roosevelt refused to shoot a baby bear while hunting.

In 1900, at the age of 41, Roosevelt was elected Vice President. A year later, President McKinley, was shot and killed. Roosevelt became our 26th President. At 42, he was the youngest leader the country had ever had.

When my brother and I were children, we spent a few weeks each summer in the countryside with our uncle. He was a geologist(地质学家) and loved to go on long walks to find stones to his collection in his spare time. We often followed him.

One day, we left early, and this time, our uncle had bought us backpacks to help him carry the sample(样本). The whole day, we walked around the countryside, and every now and then, our uncle put stones in our bags. We were a bit surprised that he also took some stones out from our bags at times, but we thought maybe he had just found better samples than the ones we already had.

When we reached the house in the late afternoon, we were tired out. The backpacks were so heavy that we gave a big sigh of relief when we put them on the ground.

Yet our uncle's backpack was half-empty.

"Why did you give us so many stones?" we asked.

"I didn't. You did, "he said, "You did not know it, but I made you go through a little attitude(态度) test today."

"What do you mean an 'attitude test'?" we wondered. "It is something someone once did to me. You see, I listened to every word you said. And whenever you complained about anyone or anything, I added a stone to your bags. And whenever you talked about something with an attitude of gratitude(感恩) and positive(正面的) thinking, I took out a stone. And now look at your backpacks."

    We did. They were full.

"Your negative(负面的) thoughts are like stones. You carry them in your mind just like those stones in a backpack. The more negative thoughts you have, the heavier your mind is. So look at those bags and start paying attention to what you say and how you say things."

This little lesson was one of the most important I ever had. And I remember my uncle with great love for teaching us one of the most important lessons in life-the power of attitude.

"Sunrise gold" is a color that means a lot to me. The color mixes gold with a bit of red and yellow. I like it because it gives me peace, energy and hope in the face of difficulty.

When I was in the eighth grade, I took part in a speech competition. Although I made all my efforts, I didn't win. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} I had trouble falling asleep that night. It was 3:30 in the morning, and there was nothing but me and my unhappy heart. I got up and went upstairs to the roof (屋顶) top to clear my mind.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} At first, it was orange and red, but after a short while, the sun awoke from its sleep and painted the sky with its gold colour. The sunlight shone on everything—trees, roofs and streets. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} The rays of light woke up the gentle morning wind and sent it moving across the field, touching my face and everything gently. It also woke up the early birds, which were singing happily.

There and then I realized that past is history, no matter how much we regret it. I thought to myself, "Maybe I can start once more, just like the dawn(黎明)." {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

Now, whenever I face difficulties, I remember what the "sunrise gold" made me understand that morning.

A. So I never doubted I could deal with it.

B. I tried to remember all of what I heard.

C. The failure hit me hard and made me feel painful.

D. I went downstairs, feeling energetic and hopeful.

E. I stayed there until a ray of light appeared in the sky.

F. I felt its warmth flow through my body and into my heart.
