Our English teacher Mrs. Wang let us do an English project—researching the Chinese traditional festivals. Here are two groups' reports about it.

Nobody likes a bully（恶霸). But bullying（霸凌）is a big problem around the world. According to the US National Bullying Prevention Center, one fifth students in the US have been bullied .

Nathan Fellars is an eighth grade student at Centennial Middle School in Utah, US. When he saw classmates being bullied, he knew he had to do something." People often deal with bullying after the bullying has happened. I wanted to see if there was a way to reduce(减少) bullying before it happens at all ," Fellars told the Society for Science .

After studying more about the causes（起因）of bullying , he had an idea to make the app Bully Block. On the app , students can share their lives, whether good or bad. Others can then post responses(回复) . But before the responses are posted, an AI program reads all of them. Only positive (积极的) words will be shown. Fellars believes that this will naturally stop bullying both online and in schools.

"I would love to see my app be used by teachers and students," said Fellars. "I love knowing that it can help somebody else in the world." Do you think Fellars' dream can come true? Do you want to be a person like Fellars?

①Have you ever heard of the "new Chinese style"? The style cleverly mixes traditional （传统的）and modern elements（元素）， and its clothing is very popular now, especially among young Chinese.

②On Xiaohongshu, over 2 million results will come out if you search for "new Chinese style of clothing". And the most popular one has received 150,000 likes. On Taobao, one of China's largest online shopping platforms （平台）， sales of"new Chinese style"clothing last year went up by more than 50%.

③Following the tradition of wearing new clothes for the new year, a mother from Anhui Province bought her daughter a bright red set of Chinese New Year's clothing ahead of the Spring Festival.

④"This year, I bought my daughter the popular Chinese-style horse-face skirt. This piece of clothing is thick and warm. My daughter looks both pretty and cute in it," the mother said.

⑤What's the reason behind this? The young are becoming more confident in Chinese culture. It's their love for traditional Chinese culture that makes "new Chinese style" more and more popular.

Friendship Day is a great day for celebrating friendship. It falls on the first Sunday of August every year. Celebrating the festival was firstly started by the US in 1935. But now this doesn't only take place in the US. People in other countries are interested in it, too.

The idea of spending the day with friends was spread all over the world. With more 
and more countries joining in the celebrations, Friendship Day soon became an 
international festival.

Between 1935 and 1997, Friendship Day didn't have a symbol, like Santa Claus 
for Christmas. However, in 1997, the United Nations named Winnie the Pooh as the 
world's ambassador（大使） of friendship.

The traditional celebrations include activities such as meeting with friends and exchanging（交换） cards, flowers and gifts. Some people may have parties with their friends. Some may have lunch or dinner together. Others may hang out or go to the movies with friends on this special day. These are popular among all age groups from teenagers to old people.

Although Friendship Day and its celebrations may have changed over the years, the basic idea behind the festival remains（保持） the same. People enjoy the moment they spend together and express love and care for their friends.

If you' re into sports, you' ve seen it happen — tennis players jump over the net to shake hands after a hard match; football players exchange jerseys(运动衣) after ninety minutes of knocking each other around; even boxers touch gloves at the beginning of each round. Players in every event, from spelling bees to golf, act in this way. It's all part of sportsmanship(体育精神), a great tradition in sports and competition. It means playing and being calm all through the match.

 Everyone feels great when they win. In the last few years, you might see some players celebrate a goal with a long victory dance or talk big about their ability. However, it's always hard for people to say in public that they made a bad play. Good sportsmanship is what they really need. It's the golden rule of sports.

Good sportsmanship means that you play by the rules, talk politely to everyone during games and stay cool even when you lose the game. At the school sports meeting, for example, it's more important for you to know how to work as part of a team and cheer your teammates on. That may help you enjoy more success at your future work. In competition— as in life— you may not always win, but believe me, sportsmanship will help you get through, and there is always the next match.
