In April 2021, a group of elephants started to walk north from their home in the wild in Yunnan. They quickly became stars and got a lot of attention from around the world. A team of eight people were following the elephants. They worked 24 hours a day, both on the ground and with drones(无人机).

The team shared some interesting moments of the elephants' trip on the Internet. The moments made people smile. For example, two baby elephants once fell down, and an adult(成年的) elephant had to use its long nose to help the babies stand. At another point, a sleeping baby elephant was on its mother's back. It moved its body and legs in the air. It seemed the baby elephant was dreaming about something funny.

These elephants were so cute. Some reporters from other countries even came to Yunnan. They got to know more about the elephants as well as the friendly people there.

No one knew why the elephants left home. Maybe they were looking for better food. Maybe they were lost. Maybe they were just having a good time.

Travelling often brings us pleasure. But last summer, I had {#blank#}1{#/blank#}bad travel experience. I visited Mount Wuyi with my parents. Mount Wuyi is famous {#blank#}2{#/blank#}green forests, clear water and nice tea. Every year, thousands of people go travelling there on vacation.

I {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(book) three train tickets online. The train should start at 8:00, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}it was late. We had to wait. When we finally got on the train, it was 9:

00. What was much {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (bad), there was something wrong with the air conditioner. I couldn't stand the high temperature and the terrible smell in the carriage (车厢). As soon as the train arrived, I ran out {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(quick).

A tour bus took us to the foot of the mountain. We rent three bikes to ride on. It was too hot. All of {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(we) had to keep drinking along the way. We were tasting delicious Wuyi Tea when it rained suddenly. {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(ride) in the rain became more difficult. I fell down but I wasn't hurt. I felt too tired to ride on. After getting over all kinds of {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(problem), we reached the top of the mountain at last.

{#blank#}10{#/blank#}a bad trip! Bad weather, bad vehicle and bad luck.

One cold evening in November, I was walking in the street with my 7-year-old daughter Nora. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Nora stopped and said to me, "Look, Daddy! The poor man is sitting inside a cardboard(纸板) box over there. I think he must be cold and hungry. Can we take him home?"

I don't remember how to reply to her at that time—— {#blank#}2{#/blank#}something like, "That wouldn't really help him." I might make my daughter feel better by {#blank#}3{#/blank#}him an apple. At that time, I found my daughter was no longer a little kid and that she had grown up. A few days later, a newspaper  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} that some volunteers tried their best to help others in different ways every Sunday. I decided to join them with my daughter Nora. She was excited about it.

When Sunday came, we got to an old people's home. We first cleaned the floor and then took out the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. After that, we talked with the old people there. Nora learned a lot during the visit.

The children stopped talking as Miss Hughes came into the classroom. Then they1 as one boy said, "Good morning. Teacher" Miss Hughes said good morning too and told the2 to sit down. All the students were watching her, waiting to3 her. 

"I think you want to know my name, " she said.4 she could tell them, someone called out, "It's Miss Hughes" Everybody laughed. Miss Hughes laughed too. 

"News travels5 , "she said. "I'm afraid it will take me a6 time to learn all your names. "Miss Hughes began to call the students' names in turn. When she came to the last name, John Young, 

she7 that he was absent(缺席的) for over a month. 

"What's the matter with John Young?" she asked. 

"He's in hospital, Miss Hughes, "said a girl in the front row. "He broke his leg. ""Does anyone see 8 in the hospital?" Miss Hughes asked. No one answered. 

It was time to start the9 , "Now let me see, "said Miss Hughes, looking at the timetable. The first lesson is English. First of all, I want you to write a letter to John Young. We will send the10 ones to cheer him up. "

All the students began writing happily. And they liked the new teacher very much. 

If you have no special plans for your holidays, why not spend your time helping others?

Some people say that young people today often think only of themselves. It's not true at all, more and more young people in the USA volunteer (当志愿者) to spend their school holidays working for others. And they don't do it for money. Here are some of their stories. 

Alice Hamilton, 17

I'm going to help the Forest Center build new hiking paths (徒步小径) in the mountains. It's going to be wonderful. I will spend the whole summer living in a tent (帐篷) and breathing the fresh mountain air. I'm going to sleep under the stars. It will be a nice sport, and I will be able to do some- thing good at the same time!

Jason Moore, 18

This summer I'll volunteer with Special House Program. They build good, low- cost houses and sell them to the poor. They'll teach me what to do, so I am going to help people and also have a chance to learn how to build houses. 

Trish Anderson, 16

I'm going to teach children who have difficulty in reading. I'll work for a program called Reading for Life. Every day, I'm going to help children choose and read books that they like. I want to be a teacher and I love children and reading, so this is going to be a great experience for me.
