To My Best Friend

On a sunny morning, I am listening to the music. The soft music reminds me of my best friend, Sarah. There are many things I want to say to her.

Thank you for being there for me throughout all of the seasons of my life — the ups and downs, the beautiful and the ugly. You have offered me a shoulder to cry on whenever life has become hard. You have helped me in ways I didn't even know.

Peter was shocked(震惊的)when their lost dog returned with a rosette(玫瑰花结) from a dog show.

He and his wife discovered their Bonnie1 on Sunday morning. " We fed the dogs as usual Bonnie was normally there first2 I was unable to see her there," Peter said. " I saw the gate had swung as I was making my3 to the kitchen and I thought 'Oh no' ."

The couple4 did a search around the house with their two daughters. And their neighbours even5 in too. Three hours later, she was6 nowhere to be seen. They began to7 . 

Bonnie was running along the side of the road while the humans were in panic(惊慌). Minutes after Bonnie ran off, John Wilmer noticed8 . He was driving his two dogs to a dog show. Running late for the show, Wilmer9 the lost dog and brought her to the event. He posted a photo of Bonnie online saying " Does10 know this dog?"

This was seen by Peter. After having got a touch11 Peter., he decided to help Bonnie12 the competition. It turned out this was a right13 . She came away from the show with a rosette for third place.

"Bonnie was fine when she got back," Peter said. "When she was missing, I had five14 in my head. The best was that she came back. This was even better than I 15 . She came back with a rosette.

Bringing a giraffe into the world is a tall order. A baby giraffe is born 10 feet high and usually lands on its back. Within seconds it rolls over its legs under its body. Then the mother giraffe rudely introduces its children to the reality(现实)of life. 

In his book, A View from the Zoo, Gary Richmond describes how a new-born giraffe learns its first lesson. 

The mother giraffe lowers her head long enough to take a quick look. Then she puts herself directly over her child. She waits for about a minute, and then she does the most unreasonable thing. She throws her long leg and kicks her baby, so that it's sent sprawling(四脚朝天). 

When it doesn't get up, the process is repeated again and again. The struggle to rise is important. As the baby giraffe grows tired, the mother kicks it again. Finally, it stands for the first time on its shaky legs. Then the mother giraffe kicks it off its feet again. Why? She wants it to remember how it gets up. In the wild, a baby giraffe must be able to get up as quickly as possible to stay with its group, where there's safety. 

Another writer named Irving Stone understood this. He spent a lifetime studying greatness, writing stories about such men as Michelangelo, Vincent van Gogh, Sigmund Freud, and Charles Darwin. 

Stone was once asked if he had found something that runs through the lives of all these great people. He said, "I write about people who sometime in their life have a dream of something. They're beaten over the head, knocked down and for years they get nowhere. But every time they stand up again. And at the end of their lives, they've realized some small parts of what they set out to do. "

We all know that family life is very important for a person. If a kid is well treated by his parents, he will grow up happily. Bob Courtright is a good example. Deeply committed to his family, Bob Courtright will be remembered as a loving and selfless man forever. Born with an optimistic personality, he was always the one to look on the bright side and made everyone he met feel comfortable. Equipped with a set of skills, an ability to please others, and a strong sense of adventure, Bob lived his life to the fullest. He left behind a rich collection of wonderful memories for his friends and family.

Bob's life story began in 1937 when the Golden Gate Bridge opened, which gave Americans renewed pride and faith in the economy after a hard period at that time. Having moved several times during his childhood, his family eventually settled on the south side of their city.

With a strong desire to make a living on his own, Bob eventually dropped out of school to pursue（追求）a career in painting, leading him to a lifetime of success as a master painter and tradesman. He also served as a doctor in the army. Besides, he took an interest in roller skating and enjoyed competing as a roller skating dancer. He made many friends along the way and enjoyed filling each of his days to the fullest.

As a father, Bob was patient and supportive. He enjoyed his role as a father and always encouraged his children to lead a life of honesty and service.

He also tried hard to be a strong role model in their lives. He and his wife worked together to teach their children the value of hard work and faith in life.

Ivan sat 1 the floor deep down in the sea． He was bored and 2 ． He watched other pretty fish 3 in and out of rocks． They were laughing and dancing happily．" Why am I so different？" he said to 4 ．
"You are an octopus（章鱼）， Ivan． That is special．" The sweet5 of Leo，a beautiful white dolphin， always made Ivan 6 better． Ivan looked up at the white dolphin and   7 ．Leo said，" Let's play games together．" They were having a lot of 8 and they didn't know they were already far away9 home．
Suddenly Leo saw a large shark（鲨鱼）10 above them，"It is Big White…the 11 ，most terrible shark in the sea，" he shouted to Ivan． Leo looked at Big White12 ． It was very fast．Leo was very afraid and he couldn't swim．He couldn't swim． Just at this moment， Big White rushed down towards them． An idea came to Ivan． He quickly sprayed（喷） a very dark cloud of black water to the shark's eyes． Then Ivan and Leo swam away 13 they got home safely．
"Are you OK？" asked Ivan．"Yes． I am lucky to have you as my friend!" Ivan's face turned red．"I guess being 14 others can be so cool sometimes，" Ivan said．"That is 15 I try to tell you，" Peter said．

Shay can never hold her chopsticks (筷子) well. "Like this, Jiajia." her mother holds out her own chopsticks and called Shay's Chinese name. Shay tries but it's too difficult. She makes a face. "I don't want to. Everyone at Abigail's house uses spoons and forks (叉子)." she says and reaches for a spoon.

The next day, Shay's mother prepared noodles for her lunch. Chopsticks, too. Only chopsticks. "I have two forks," Abigail says, "You can borrow if you like." Abigail can't use chopsticks at all, but she doesn't have to. She is pretty and blond and has a last name that isn't Chinese. "Yes, please!" Shay says, "Thanks, Abigail!"

After dinner, Shay sits with her mother at the desk. she takes out some drawing things from the desk. "What do you want to draw?" Mom asks. "A dragon!" Shay says. At school, her class is reading stories and her favorite characters are always dragons. They are big and strong, and they breathe fire (喷火). Mother also draws quietly with Shay, side by side. Shay draws a fire-breathing dragon and she turns to her mother's drawing: a snakelike animal with big teeth. It's a Chinese dragon, a long.

"That's pretty, mom!" Shay says. "I wish long had wings (翅膀). Then they could fly like my dragon does." "They do fly and they can swim, too. The long is a dragon as I know it. And this is a dragon as you know it. But they are both dragons." Mom points to Shay's drawing. "Oh," says Shay, "So it's just like how I know forks and you know chopsticks?" Mother thinks for a while and laughs. "Yes. Just like that. There really is no wrong way to eat, you can use forks or you can use chopsticks."
